I was thinking about doing ED for a long time, but I’m not sure whether I’ll be able to get my app completed before November 1st Also, my family wants to compare financial aid packages from each school, so I’ll probably just apply RD.

I know I’ll be applying but I’m not sure RD or ED…

i am applying ED to Columbia this fall. I got a 30 on my ACT but i’m taking it again and i got a 740 on SAT Bio and 700 on Math 1 and i am taking Math level 2 this fall. I got a 4.169 GPA with the hardest courses my school offers. Been playing clarinet for 10 years and i plan on sending in a recording. I also have plenty of community service. Do my chances look good???

^ yes. your chances look good.

I am definately appying but I wont be for two more years, haha.
But Columbia would probably be my first choice school.
It is the only Ivy I am interested in.
I’m also very interested in Barnard, possible more so than Columbia.

I’m definitely applying but I also won’t be for two more years. It’s around my 3rd choice, behind Dartmouth and Vandy.

I’ll probably put in an application as well in two or three years (depending on whether I intend to pursue early graduation). It’s around 4th for me, behind JHU, Vandy, Tufts, and Boston College.

Im applying… but it’s my fifth choice for all of you who really wanna go.

Hey guys, this is my first post on this website so I’m still trying to figure everything out.

I am currently in my second year at a california community college and planning on transferring out by next fall.

I am a Philosophy major and have a 3.93 GPA and finished all of my pre reqs.

What are your opinions of the best possible school I can get into with this GPA?
BTW my high school GPA is only 3.2 or so…

Two sons, both National Merit Finalists-- son #1 chose Auburn University for the full ride scholarship and the Engineering program. Son #2, high school senior, has Columbia on his list as well as Princeton. If accepted at either, he’d need a pretty hefty scholarship because we don’t qualify on the low income end for the full tuition.

Otherwise, I think 'Bama or Auburn for son #2 as well! :)

I am applying to Columbia. Very excited and thrilled :)

Good luck to all of you :)

i’m applying to columbia, regular decision even though it’s one of my top choices (worried about financial aid). good luck everybody!

@tspencer15, you can get out of the ED agreement if you site financial restrictions as the reason and you talk to the financial aid office about it. so don’t be afraid to go the ED rout if financial aid is all you’re worried about.

I’m applying for Spring 2011 admission. I’m a philosophy major, 4.0 GPA on 46 credits, former Marine Corps journalist, president of the philosophy club at my CC, copy editor for my school newspaper, first-generation college Cuban-Irish-American. I had a dismal 0.596 GPA in high school (failed ninth grade and eventually dropped out after being dismissed from several schools.)

We’ll see if they like comeback stories, haha.

I’m applying ED, class of 2015!
wish me luck

REEEGULAAAR DECISION :))
So exciteeed!!!

I’m applying to Columbia RD this year for Fall 2011.

I attended the Columbia High School Summer Program last year and really liked it there.

It’s definitely one of my top choices. :)

@wombatlikewoah: anyone who has Columbia as a first choice but is concerned about fin aid should speak to the ADMISSIONS OFFICE about which way to apply (ED or RD). Students should not enter into an ED contract with the intention of breaking the contract down the line.

@college4three i know that, but because you don’t know EXACTLY how much you’ll be given for aid, i’m just saying, if it’s your absolute top choice, and you’re pretty much sure you’ll have the finances for it but aren’t absolute, you should still apply ED. and if you absolutely cannot pay, then it’s not like you can’t get out of it. so tspencer should be discouraged from applying ED.

I’m applying ED… so excited!!! Speaking of that, can you guys reply to my threads about periodicals and what not to write??? Would be soooo helpful!!! Good luck everyone :)
