Who gets into Harvard EA?

I wasn't disputing that (and I apologize if I belittled the RSI achievement), but the fact that anyone at all shares it (especially 40 ppl) is not good. There are so few spots at this school that they truly try to fill each one with someone that is entirely unique, and RSI just might not do that for you...now RSI and some other mind-blowing factor that differentiates you from others--that would probably secure you a spot in a heartbeat...but it's not as big as everyone might think...just look at all the kids that got rejected/deffered (which is likely just a postponed rejection) that had RSI on this site...I don't know, like I said, I don't claim expertise, but this is just what I've learned as an observer.

Byerly, that's not right actually, just so ya know....I know for a fact stanford only admits about 30%EA, and I also know that Columbia is almost alone in admitting half it's class ED; Harvard does admit nearly half its class EA, but I think in that case, it truly is in reponse to a very strong applicant pool--I think the only real advantage you gain is being able to communicate to the adcoms that Harvard is your number one choice, and that you will most likely enroll if accepted.

That is incorrect.

wow. You just got told. haha

I really don't think the strength of the applicant pool for EA is particularly stronger than RD. As one having applied with very low stats, my rationale was that if I were to be accepted by Harvard, applying early would be my best bet. I know others with low stats with the same midset. Conversely, the only person I personally know who applied to Harvard and got in had a VERY strong application and applied RD. Based on my small frame of reference I don't think the EA pool could possibly be so much statistically stronger that it could warrant such an increase in acceptance. Oh and a question -- I recently heard MORE people apply EA, which refutes the majority of things I have read and heard. Is this correct?

Byerly...just out of curiosity...how do SSPers stand in the application pool, esp those who took 8 unit courses...like general chemistry...and got an A. The adcom keeps stressing that participating in harvard SSP does not help your application. I loved SSP this summer and I worked really hard to get my A...and I was wondering if the adcom pays any attention to that.

yeah same question^
and does participation in the extension school (distance education option) help? (as a lowell scholar)

lol tawny, you are a good republican arent you?

yes, yes i am!

unless that was sarcasm.... ? then um, well, no i'm still good i promise!

haha, great to hear! lol Good luck tommorow!

gl to you too!

ahh less than a day

"yes, yes i am!"

lets keep it that way...
Ah I am anxious, but confident. 22 hrs....

i pahked my cah in hahvahd yahd

I love the irony, DHA, you're a "good Republican" and a conservative pinning your hopes for Harvard on two bedrock liberal initiatives -- affirmative action and HFAI -- both intended to open doors of opportunity to the previously excluded. So, if you get in, will your first order of business as a conservative Republican be to close the door behind you? Sort of like Alito and the Concerned Alumni of Princeton?

Actually, successful liberal initiatives often create freshly-minted Republicans. Once folks scurry up the ladder on the back of good policy initiatives -- GI Bill, New Deal, FHA Mortgages, etc. -- they sometimes forget from whence they come and how they got where they are now. Sometimes they want to believe they got there all by themselves.

So good luck today. I hope you achieve your dream. Just remember the shoulders on which you stand.

First of all, don't get me started on AA. I never said I agree with it. HFAI, well that’s a different story. Republicans are not against welfare (pseudo-what this is), they against the misuse of it. If I get in, my first order of business will be to give more opportunities to low-income students, so they have opportunities at schools like Harvard.

Everyone whines, ******, and complains. 98% of H applicants are middle-class, if not higher. Even the URMs. In fact, I'd venture to guess that there are a handful of URMs who aren’t rich applying early. This is due to the fact that many poor URMs concentrate more on trying to find ways to pay the ever soaring cost of housing (like me) and don’t even consider college, much less Harvard.

Harvard, despite what it is trying to do, still dispels the image of an off-limits school for rich white kids. And that’s the plain truth. The minorities --the poor minorities-- see it as this, and the average middle class sees it as a school for the rich. Harvard can keep throwing money at the problem, but when less than 5% of their entering class in poor, and even less below the poverty line (low-income and poverty line are two different areas), then c’mon. No change is going to be made.

Therefore, I'd like to thank the liberals, not only do they provide me with wonderful welfare programs (which we don't receive), but also for raising the taxes of the rich. Which in turn causes them to charge us more. (5 years ago we paid $500 rent, now we pay $900). Thank you liberals. Thank you for putting up a sherade and indirectly keeping the poor where they are. (Don't argue me on this, I’ve asked several landlords, and the reason why rent keeps going up is because of taxes, NOT THE INFLATED HOUSING MARKET.

People criticize the president for what he is doing. Well let me see...If he reduces the taxes on the rich, that means they have to pay less taxes, and if they pay less taxes...THE PRICE OF RENT GOES DOWN! Yay! We wouldn’t be on the verge of getting evicted anymore!! Don’t you just love politics?

I know what the hell I am talking about. Most of you are outsiders to our situation, assuming your stupid little social programs actually help. You haven’t lived what I have lived through, and you cant begin to imagine...

in my opinion, DHA, you rock. :)

great post DHA

thx guys!!!!!!!omg twenty minutes!!! I am so anxious. I feel my blood rushing through my arms and like my heart is pounding. I am super confident though, buy anxious!!!!!!good luck guys!!!!!!!!!

Did anybody get accepted so far....?

I got in EA! yay. just thought since the forum was asking who gets in, id throw that out there.
