Hi, I am a high school junior from Iowa, and I am really interested in going to Stanford or some other highly prestigious school (Harvard, Princeton, etc.). My question is for any people out there who got into Stanford, what are your achievements, activities, and roles that got you into Stanford? What stuff stands out? I know from digging around that its not just about academics its about involvement, service, and leadership nowadays. Please, any response would be awesome because I am getting into this college thing and I am freaking out over the choices I have made and if they are the right ones.

I have a 3.9 gpa (unweighted). I have taken as many AP classes as possible and earned an A for every term. I am even President of my high school's government program. I am Class President, as well as President of the Speech and Debate Team (national forensic league), President of the National Honor Society, Captain of the Quiz Bowl Team, Captain of the Varsity Cross Country and Track Team, and President of German Club. I have won awards for my academic achievement and sports at both the conference and state levels. I compete nationwide as a speaker and debater and have made it to elimination rounds of some of the biggest and best tournaments in the country (Glenbrooks, Golden Desert, Minneapple). I am also a very successful runner in my state. I hold a spot as a board member of a youth philanthropy group in my community, and that gets me soo many volunteering hours I lost count. I am applying to be a board member of the Iowa State Youth Advisory Council which lobbies the Iowa Congress. Additionally I am in line for an internship with either the Iowa House or Senate next year. I coach youth cross country and track teams and I am starting a Debate team for the public schools in my city by myself. Additionally I work part time for a major political polling and campaigning business that supports major candidates nationwide and basically support myself except for basic necessities. I am a nominee and am attending Iowa Boys State where I plan on running for Governor. This summer I plan on volunteering at a local hospital for at least 150 hours, running a charity most likely to support inner city speech and debate programs, and am trying to find a research opportunity for high schoolers at a local university. Additonally I will join the political campaign for some presidential candidate that I have not decided at this time.

Once again any information or advice would be great, I know I am probably not the best of candidates for admission so I am open to any advice at all. Dont be nice, be truthful.

Thanks
