Who gets LIKELY LETTERS?

Who gets likely letters other than recruited athletes or people who already have a connection with the university? For top-tier/ivy league schools, do normal applicants get them, and if so, when?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/yale-university/804816-quick-facts-about-likely-letters.html

Very very few students get them

Has anyone here gotten one? If so, what was your situation? Thanks!

it’s mostly athletes or special people like that, but veryyy rare:/

What non-athletes get likely letters? The ones that HYPSM will battle one another over. Yes, each season a few hundred of those exist. These are the types that in 4-5 years are Rhodes and Fulbright scholars.

In 20+ years, I’ve interviewed only one out of some 250 interviewees. Frankly she was quite noisome and I wasn’t sad when she turned down my HYP’s offer for another HYP college. Four years later, she was a Rhodes winner. Not a surprise either.

waitingforivy: If you have to ask, then you’re not one of them. Stop obsessing.

Thanks for help and information!

But jeez, chill, I’m not obsessing. I’m wondering. There’s a difference.
