Im not going ti be in the top 10% of my class. But UT is one of my top choices for college. I was wondering what stats are needed to get capped? There's nothing on the website so I was wondering if anyone knows roughly what GPA and SAT/ACT scores are capped....

Bump

I know someone who got capped with a 1600 on their total SAT. But I heard that the last graduating class was the final class to be offered CAP, and maybe they are phasing it out? Does anyone know for sure? They have started the PACE program which means you start classes at Austin Community College and maybe take 3 hours at UT for the first year. Here is the link to the PACE program: <a href=“Path to Admission through Co-Enrollment | Undergraduate Admissions | The University of Texas at Austin”>Path to Admission through Co-Enrollment | Undergraduate Admissions | The University of Texas at Austin;

Did they seriously get rid of cap!!! Man, that was my only shot…

Regarding the PACE program you take 3 hours at UT per semester (6 hours for the year) and the other full time hours at Austin Community College. You automatically transfer to UT after your freshman year as long as you have a 3.2 at ACC and a 2.0 in your UT classes. And you can still live in the dorms at UT. So actually PACE sounds like a good deal.

I called UT admissions today to ask if CAP was being discontinued or phased out. The lady said that every year is different and they don’t know at this point. It sounds like it will continue and it just depends on the needs of the colleges which colleges will participate each year. She said that UT Dallas didn’t participate last year and probably won’t this year. But she indicated that other colleges would likely participate, it just depends. She was not very definitive. But I would like to retract my earlier suggestion that CAP is being phased out, as this was not confirmed in my call to UT today.

CAP is still in place for summer/fall 2015 entering freshman applicants. The problem is that UT San Antonio wants to opt out, and if they do then UT Arlington would opt out. Without those two campuses the CAP program would no longer be viable and UT Austin would need to come up with another plan. PACE is not a replacement for CAP; it is positioned above CAP and designed for applicants who just barely miss making the cut for regular freshman admission at UT Austin.

Hey I’m currently in PACE so if you have any questions about it feel free to ask! :)

Emily2018 were you able to get on-campus housing?

Yep! I got my first choice housing. I paid the $50 deposit in October though.

That was smart, good to know!

Any update to this?
