yeah I got the Harvard viewbook with the application forms for the entering class of '07. I'm just glad that I get to see/have their app already since most schools don't have them available until late summer.
But me being gullible and such... I wasn't gonna apply, though now I may. I'm visiting on Wednesday with 3 of my friends (though not because I got the mail) along with Tufts, BU, and Emerson (a friend is interested in Emerson)

i got one of those a few days ago too. i just pretty much wrote it off as a mass mailing.

I got one too.

Harvard is big on recruiting applicants, like Wash U. It's so that they can drive down their admission percentage.

not on the website. however, a friend of mine got a copy e-mailed to her from some college. but the website says early july

D received a viewbook from Harvard today too. There's no way she's going to apply. I'm going to look at all the pretty pictures, though.

I got the mail, too.

hmmm, this was posted in the Harvard forum by a person who knows the ins and outs of Harvard admissions.

They want people from all ethnic groups, of wide-ranging interests, and from all areas of the country.

Im recent years, a very high fraction of the candidates eventually admitted were identified in advance as desirable candidates, and invited to apply in this fashion.

One thing is sure: if you don't apply, your chance of getting in is ... zero!

What is a high score? rhetorical question I scored pretty low....I'm URM, but low nonetheless

Yeah they also sent me an app, but unless you're a heaven-sent student it's almost worthless trying to apply. Although, I do have to agree with macnyc - the pictures are really pretty.

i just think its cool i have the common app...the site said sometime in july or w/e...

I got mail.

99.9% likely that they want to decrease their acceptance rate.

there's always that .1% of hope that they want you...

I get a fee waiver, so I have nothing to lose ;)

I got a letter in the mail yesterday. I thought it was really cool how the harvard emblem is watermarked on the letter paper. Did anyone else get a financial aid initiative thingy? how were you notified you got a fee waiver iwant2gotocollege?

I got the same financial aid letter

Today, I received a letter telling me how exciting of a time it was to be at Harvard, a Financial Aid Initiative reply card, and a viewbook with the Common App. Either Harvard likes to send their mail all on one day, or the USPS only delivers Harvard mail to this suburban town in southern Texas on one day.

Blah...I've gotten a postcard from Yale (who sent me an application in FRESHMAN year, by the way), letters from Georgetown & Stanford, a viewbook from Cornell, and countless emails from Dartmouth. Do I think I stand a chance at those schools? Well, yes...but it's not a good chance. From my short time on CC, I've learned that even with my combination of good grades, decent test scores, above average ECs, and URM status, those schools are reaches. Hey, they reject 2400 SATs and 36 ACTs yearly!

Dude, I got that exact same Harvard letter with the financial aid initiative. Man, they're really casting the nets wide, eh?

I'm not exactly the super-student where Harvard would be a solid reach--I wish they'd discriminate more between who they sent letters to so they'd mean a little more. :(

I got the same stuff as nathantx07. HEhehe I even got the same Yale postcard ( I'm assuming its the same).
