Did you receive mail from Harvard SSP?

lol this is a really dumb post, feel free to laugh. I also don't mean to toot my own horn, sorry.

Anyway, PSAT scores were out for my school early last week, but I haven't gotten mine. Presumably the little letter has been either lost or stolen, and my guidance counselor has been too busy to respond to my emails so I can't get anything from her. I go back to school next Thursday so I would be able to find her in person that day or the day after.

I'm 99% positive I did well, at least above 200, so I'm not going to die of anxiety or anything, but I would like to know my score. I got mail from Harvard SSP that blatantly says "sent via Collegeboard Student Search" or whatever, and the letter also says that my PSAT score had to do with their sending me an ad, but of course they don't list any kind of minimum PSAT. I tried Googling minimum PSAT scores for SSP but couldn't find any.

tl;dr I don't have my PSAT score yet but I got an ad from Harvard SSP that indicates I "did well" on the PSAT. I'd like to know if anyone else got such mail, and if so, what their PSAT score was.

Thanks a ton, and happy holidays/new year!

I know I got something from Harvard after I got my PSAT scores last year, but I don’t remember if it was for SSP or not. I got a 237, but I wouldn’t read into it too much if I were you - colleges send tons of mail. Even if you didn’t do very well on the PSAT, you still would probably get mail like that.

College board posts your PSAT scores if you want to ease your anxiety a little

got that last year. I was excited too, so trust me it wasn’t just you.
then I saw that SSP (I think it was at least) is over 10k… it’s just advertising. applying is separate.

I got some glossies and other mail from community colleges and a local (not very selective) LAC a week or so before I got my sophomore PSAT scores. I was certain that I had gotten a terrible score, and the mail seemed to confirm this.
So I was very surprised when I opened up my score report. I got a 206, which I was excited for (yeah I know some people get like 215+ in their sophomore year, but I personally was proud of that score).
OP, I think that the mail doesn’t mean anything, but if you have a good gut feeling you probably did very well.

@Daredevil: I’m aware of some kind of “access code” you can use to access PSAT scores, but that code seems to be given to you in the letter that I didn’t receive lol. Do you know of any other ways to see PSAT scores?

@Malaise: what PSAT score did you get? I’m curious to see what kind of PSAT range this Harvard SSP thing sends ads to.

And thanks to everyone else that replied. I figured the mail wasn’t a big deal since Harvard SSP isn’t a very competitive program to begin with, but no harm in asking around.

Also, @basketweaver: less prestigious colleges sometimes send a ton of ads to “overqualified” students to try to attract better people to come to their school. And 206 is something to be proud of, lol. The average PSAT score in the US is about 143.

Hi! I was accepted into the Harvard SSP 2014  PSAT scores don’t mean much, trust me. I’m a sophomore, I went to a concert the night before the PSAT’s and my score reflects that… 156. However, the rest of your application plays a huge part of it. I had the best teacher recommendation from my chem teacher, she said i’m one of the best she’s encountered in her career. I don’t think my guidance counselor’s was great, it was generic. I did speak a lot about my extracurriculars, because I have a lot of leadership positions, so that was a plus. My essay was on the Cuban Embargo and how it should be lifted. I’ve heard the acceptance rate is around 15%. So to answer your question, I don’t think you should worry about your PSAT score when you send it in.

Uh. The acceptance rate was around 68%. I don’t know where you got your number of 15% from. @kelleybabphavong

I got an email too. And I got a 201 on the PSAT.

Harvard SSP isn’t competitive, right?

Thanks to everyone for their replies! I thought this thread died lol.

@Apollo11 looking at the price tag of the program and the PSAT scores people had in this thread, I’d say SSP isn’t competitive. Unless you have a ton of money and are just looking for a random place to spend the summer, I wouldn’t suggest attending. Besides, there are lots of other places that cost less or the same where you can learn a lot more.

I did eventually find out my score - got a 227 on my PSAT (woot!)
