Anyone ?

I was accepted..

Anyone ?

I was accepted..

me lol. as a freshman haha

I was accepted as a junior transfer. I'm a Finance major, considering a second major in HRIR. What are your majors?

I am also a Junior transfer specializing in Finance, possibly Entrepreneurship.

What's HRIR ?

Which class are you enrolled in for the BA Skills course ? I'll be attending on Tuesdays morning at the Hanson Building.

Where are you transferring from ? I'm transferring from Bemidji State..

HRIR: Human Resources and Industrial Relations

Transferring into CSOM from CLA. I'm not new to the U, just to Carlson. I transferred into CLA from Anoka-Ramsey in Fall 2007, so I could finish my generals and take my tool courses at the U.

I still have to take BA 3000, as it's only available to Carlson students. But I got permission to take it in the fall, so I won't be there this summer. I do have to go to "Transfer Student Boot Camp" on September 3rd though (which I believe is for those students not taking BA 3000 over the summer).

I go to orientation on August 15th.

Have you gotten to see Hanson Hall yet? I was there a few weeks ago to talk to an advisor. It's really nice!

You slacker for not taking BA 3000 :P

I haven't seen the Hanson Building yet, just from outside, I hope I'll get a tour sometime, if not I'll just look around when I'm taking BA 3000..

I'm not sure when my orientation is.. I chose the first available date

Also, I applied for housing at the dorms, but I was told it was unlikely that I would get anything... do you have any suggestions for housing or know anyone who is looking for a roommate? I would prefer having something within a walking distance to Carlson, I have a car but don't want to go through the hassle of finding a parking spot.

I was only in Hanson briefly, but I saw that it had a Starbucks inside and that was enough for me, lol.

I don't live on campus, as my fiance and I own a home in Coon Rapids. But I did find some links that may (or may not) help you out. Also, make sure to look around at the advertising boards on campus when you go to orientation. A lot of people post roommate opportunities there.

I understand your desire to not have to find parking on campus. There are less spaces than cars, and the spots available are usually expensive. By far the best place to park on the west bank is the daily lot, which is like $3.75 for the entire day, but it's usually full by 10:30 or so.

I wouldn't worry so much about finding a place within walking distance of Carlson, just within walking distance of the U of M campus in general. The campus connectors are free, they come by like every 5 to 15 minutes (depending on the time of day), and they stop at any bus stop on campus. Hopefully you'll be introduced to them at orientation. They're a really nice way to get around campus quickly, and they're a lot better than walking in the winter.

Otherwise, did you apply for the University Honors Program? I know that there's housing specifically for honors students (I believe it's in Middlebrook Hall). Maybe that's an option for you?

Thanks for the info.

No I didn't apply for Honors, is it too late now ? Would there be openings in housing still, do you think ?

Thanks again.

I'm pretty sure it's too late to apply for honors now. I believe the application deadline was June 1st. Here's the link to the University Honors Program website: University Honors Program : University of Minnesota.

Are you looking into any study abroad programs (since it's mandatory now) ?

I was looking at a semester in Hong Kong, China.

I've looked into study abroad a little, but am hoping we get more info on that during orientation. I'd like to do one of the shorter term ones (like Costa Rica or Argentina), because my job and my mortgage can't be without me for a whole semester.

And I'm not a slacker anymore. I got my schedule arranged so I can take BA 3000 this summer after all. I registered for the Wednesday night class after hearing really good things about the guy that teaches that section.

Slacker :p

Nice.. Costa Rica or Argentina. I was in Argentina for a month this summer and I've also been to Costa Rica, so I could give you some pointers to help you decide. Both are really cool countries, but very different from each other. I'm from El Salvador, so I know Latin America pretty good.

Which days are orientation on? I totally forgot the date I have to go, I just remember I chose the first date, and I can't seem to find any info online on the dates.

Do you know any other transfers that are going into Carlson?

This website gives info and dates related to transfer orientation. I'm going on Aug 15th, but there are a number of different dates.

Transfer Student Orientation

As far as study abroad, I'm leaning more toward Costa Rica (though I don't really have a substantial reason to). I am pretty set on wanting to go somewhere in South America. I have never been, and it seems like the perfect opportunity.

I don't really know anyone else that's transferring into Carlson. I know some people already in Carlson, but they're just aquaintances from class (I took a few of my tool courses there). One of the problems with commuting to campus is that I don't really have the chance to get to know anyone outside of class. I'm planning on getting involved in some of the student organizations at Carlson going forward, and I'm hoping that makes it a little easier to connect with other students.

Yeah for sure.. I really don't know anyone, but would like to meet people, hopefully in orientation and during my summer class I'll meet people..

I'm sure you have facebook.. look for Piero Cristiani and add me.

lol, I just got facebook like 3 days ago (:

I'll look you up
