Who had to decide between Berkeley and UCLA?

I got accepted to both schools and im really relieved that I have made my decision. I plan to attend UCB because after my visit to the campus i fell in love. I visited UCLA too but it did not give me that connection like Berk did. UCLA was too red lol but UCB was dynamic with different types of architecture.
At both schools, I will be provided the best education possible, but everyone know that at UCB is THE best education. There is also a new environment I never been in.
At UCLA, I would be 20 min from home, while being close to all sorts of attractions, pasttimes, and memories.

Well for other students;
how did you make your decision on which one to go to? what factors did you use?

I live in LA, sure as hell I didn’t want to be near home.

If I’m to be independent, I can’t go running to mommy every night for din din and for her to do my laundry. And it is expensive to get an apartment in LA too.

UCB for me. I found out about UCLA first and was really excited about it, but then came UCB decisions…

Lots of people from my school who got into UCLA are going there (con for UCLA), but only a couple got into both. The deciding factors for me were that two really close friends of mine decided on UCB (one was definitely going; the other was on the verge before SIRing), it’s far away enough from home in SoCal (six hour drive), sister goes there (won’t be completely alone - but she’s in grad school), and I got a completely different (better) feel from the campus when I went for Senior Weekend and knew it would be my future school.
A very tiny con for UCLA was that my brother goes to USC, so we’d naturally be rivals, but that didn’t really matter at the time of my decision…
Haha, but now at school I get a whole bunch of UCLA people booing when I wear my Cal sweatshirt 'cause I chose the better one…

Berkeley >>>>>>>> ookla

The canonical spelling of that other campus is fUCLA, just to get you up to speed for football games and other occassions where you will use it.

^ Haha, that’s what my friend says, but I’m not that harsh.
ookla works for me.

I had a choice between UCLA Regents and Berkeley with nothing. I just went with the atmosphere I enjoyed more, so here I am in NorCal. c: College is a nice time to grow, experience new things, blahblahcliche and besides, SF is nearby and isn’t that boring.

good choices, people :)

Cal for the academics, duh.

I declined UCLA Regents, too. I’m very glad that I chose Berkeley - there are so many opportunities to take advantage of and it’s a good fit.

I also declined UCLA Regents. Although I thoroughly enjoyed being at both schools, I thought that Berkeley would be a better fit for me (academics, general atmosphere, etc).

I had to decide between the two also

for me, i visited LA and although i found the campus gorgeous, i couldn’t see myself there for four years, and i hated the surrounding area (too much traffic, people). when i visited berkeley, i liked how it was kind of quietly intense and it actually seemed a lot more mellow than i expected (in terms of atmosphere anyways). i figured that it was like my high school, and i would find a way to get over the fact that it’s competitive. i liked the buildings and the structure/layout of the school. it was also pretty close to home, and seeing how i’m not the most independent person in the world, it sounds nice to have the option of coming home. also, berkeley has better programs overall (imo) and if i ever want to switch majors, i have more choices.

the only major downside i saw with berkeley was that a lot of people from my school are going but i doubt i’ll see them on a daily basis.

^the campus is pretty big, so you won’t really see them on a daily basis (maybe run into them occasionally or if you’re in the same clubs).

bump…
