<p>I dislike Taylor Swift more than I dislike Ke$ha. All those songs about how no boy ever likes her despite the fact that millions of guys worldwide drool over her… ****. And I think her lyrics are worse, too.</p>

<p>I made it clear, I thought, that I don’t hate her because she’s popular. Why does EVERYONE assume that? UGH. I also dislike some unpopular music. I also like some popular music and some less popular music. MESSAGE: I don’t care about popularity. AT ALL.</p>

<p>And I do like upbeat songs too…just ones that don’t make my ears hurt! Of course it’s fine if you like her; I am just trying to UNDERSTAND the appeal. :)</p>

<p>^I’ll try to explain why I think people assume that there is a strong and possibly causal relationship between Ke$ha’s music being popular and your disliking it.</p>

<p>One can only like or dislike music one has heard.
Normally, one feels most strongly about music which one hears frequently.
Unpopular songs are usually only played by particular choice, and are thus normally only heard by people who like them.
Popular songs are often played without one’s choosing them in particular.</p>
