Who here is NOT interested in the Ivies?

For the longest time, I told everyone I wanted to go to Columbia. And what’s awkward was it wasn’t even good at the field I’m going into. So no one could take me seriously. LAWL.

But my dream school now is Berkeley. But I’m probably going to state because of the full-ride I might get ;p

I’m not an ivy man. Too cutthroat, and not enough purty ladies ;)

@poster 2- I like how you slipped in that your number one. That was really funny.
To the actual topic, I used to be obsessed in like 6th grade when the only college I knew about was Harvard. Now, I’m much more realistic and have adjusted my choices as such. There isn’t a point for me personally to try to be perfect for an Ivy because they turn down perfect kids left and right. I don’t think anything is wrong with someone who goes to a CC and then transfers to a state school. The Ivies are kind of annoying actually because every chance me thread that I’ve seen for the last few days have been hyper overachievers worrying about whether they will get into X Ivy. So annoying…

FastNeutrino wrote “I do really, really want to go to MIT. So that’s not an Ivy” - MIT is not an Ivy, but at an equivalent level.

You do not have to be obsessed at ivy schools, but you do not ignore them either.

100% uninterested. Mainly due to my test scores, but even if I did have a 36 on my ACT, I would rather go to a public university. The ivies are overrated.
And the people who believe that Ivy League = only chance for success, need a serious reality check.

Sent from my X500 using CC

I imagine that those two above posts could’ve been combined into one. Correct me if I’m wrong though.

dfree’s a really cool kid.

Not me, not ANYTHING close!

@PVmusicmom: If you read the rest of the sentence, I point that out.

There’s nothing wrong with being interested in an ivy, as long as you aren’t ivy obsessed. Also…

is a pretty ridiculous stereotype. Unless you are comparing Dartmouth with Miami of Ohio, the girls at Dartmouth aren’t gonna be any worse than the any other school.

Most of the people at ivys got in because they could handle school work and extra curriculars, so the balance of fun and work isn’t a problem for a lot of them.

the only ivy i dislike is harvard. then again the only ivy i like is princeton/cornell.

and boo stanford.

I have Brown on my list, but that’s it. I visited Yale and it was just really pretentious, and I really didn’t like the atmosphere- Brown seemed like the only laid back one!

i’m interested in them. not in * going to them *, though.

they all have tons of bright students so you have to be curious about what they’re doing to some of the future’s high-impact people.

I’d never want to go to Harvard–but its baseball team is pretty cute. They have a video on YouTube; just look up “harvard baseball team call me maybe cover.”

The Ivies are nice, but I wouldn’t want to go if I didn’t have the ability to stay on top of my courseload.

Ivy schools or not, you will choose the best option available to you eventually.

@FastNeutrino , sorry I misunderstood you. Yes, if you like MIT, then go for it!!! For right fir, there are plenty of kids who have chosen MIT from HYPMS cross-admits. Best of luck to you.

Not obsessed. I am interested in their professors though. I am probably not going to one for college.

@supine: That video was pretty hilarious. The solo guy toward the end didn’t miss a beat. hehe

Well sir my top choices are USC and bc so in comparison, ivies have some fugly chicks.
