Hi All,
I am an IB student and I applied for NYUAD early decision II (2), I honestly hope to get accepted and attend the candidate weekend on Feb 2016. I have a very good predicted result and many activities. Tell me about your scores and if you applied using your predicted results what is your predicted?
*If anyone from the past years was accepted please tell me about your grades and your current experience in NYUAD.
I hope all of us will be accepted !
???
I am applying to NYU Abu Dhabi ED2 too. I am also an IB student, my last semester i got a 40/42 but unfortunately, my predicted grade is 41/45. Good thing is Abu Dhabi evaluates students in a holistic manner
Good luck for both of us! I hope to see you on CD (if we get accepted )
Our school gives the predicted out of 42 and mine is 40.
Hello! I applied Class of 2020 ED1 and was accepted to NYUAD! I am happy to answer any questions about my application, Candidate Weekend, or NYUAD itself, just ask
HIIIIIIIIIIIII
Thank you very much for your help! Congratulations!!!
Can you please tell me some about your grades and activities I want to see my chances
Thank you again and congratulations
Here’s the thing, the people there are from such diverse backgrounds and different circumstances that I really don’t think my grades and activities will give you a very good idea of what your chances are. After talking with the admissions people at Candidate Weekend, it seems like a lot of things they are looking for are subjective such as a global worldview, intellectual quality, diverse interests, etc. Also, my school doesn’t offer IB, so I did AP classes instead.
That being said, here’s my scores and stats
SAT- 2260: 770 math, 690 critical reading, 800 writing
ACT-35
Subject tests- SAT Math Level 2: 790, SAT Spanish: 800, SAT Biology-780
Completed AP exams (as of last school year)
Chemistry-3, Stats-4, World History-5, English Lang-5, Calc BC-5, Environmental Sci-5, Spanish Lang-5, U.S. History-5
GPA 3.96 unweighted, 4.3ish weighted
Class rank 3 out of 382
2 Letters of Rec which I assume were very good
I personally think my extracurriculars were not anything extraordinary, and it was probably more my scores and essays that got me in, but…
Started my school’s Academic Decathlon team with a friend
Vice Pres of Math Club
I teach piano lessons to 10 students
Played piano for various school groups, performances, Certificate of Merit program, and church choir
Took an online neuroscience class though Brown University pre-college programs
LDS Seminary (religious class)
Public Library Volunteer
Peer tutor
Good Job! I hope to have the chance of meeting you if I was admitted to NYUAD!
Thank you
No problem! Good luck with your application! Let me know if you run into any other questions. I hope to see you in August!
I hope so too!
What about the scholarship or the financial aid? Did they provide you with a good one?
They give VERY GOOD financial aid compared to other US universities, mightychondria probably got full aid in terms of financial aid ,
I got in NYUAD as well and they gave me a full ride , so unless your family earns like 70000$ a year, you won’t have to worry about the tuition
I did get really good aid, not quite a “full ride” but I got the cost of tuition and room/board covered which is a $58,000 a year scholarship. So I just have to pay travel expenses, insurance, personal costs, etc. but several of the other ED1 people got admitted on full ride
Congrats! Very happy to you guys @Uchihamadara & @mightychondria
Wish me luck !
@Uchihamadara
When did you get in NYUAD? What are your grades?
I got in through their ED I for the class of 2020.
My grades, I got a internal 4.00 GPA , position 1/160 in my graduating class
A-levels grades Chem,Bio,Phy,Maths and GP AAAAa respectively
SAT I 2110
SAT II MATHS 2 800, PHY 790, CHEM 780
Guys, just to alert you all, but there’s a NYUAD facebook group. The link doesn’t seem to work, but the group is “NYUAD Class of 2020 Applicants”. There’s a group chat if anyone’s interested.
Congrats!!! @Uchihamadara
