^ The Mexicans attacked Texas first in the Mexican American War. And I don’t know much about the Spanish American War…

If I remember correctly, it was Americans that were in Mexican territory when they were attacked.

Spanish American War:
[Let me google that for you](http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Spanish+American+War)

There are really many other things that would show the US was anything but isolationist, especially in the early 20th century under Roosevelt.

Favorite: Theordore Roosevelt.
Why?
- He led America into the Progressive Phase
- Built national reserves
- Took chances that made America a world Power

I’d even say that without him, the US would have been a much weaker country that it was:)

Least favorite: Coolidge

I mean come on, he kind of caused the Great Depression!

Btw, Bush has a bad rap. Guy did the best he could’ve. It’s easy to berate a man, but I can say with confidence that if I was in his shoes, I would have done a lot worse.

It’s sort of hard to be the president of the world’s most powerful nation!

^^ No at that point it was the Republic of Texas which voluntarily agreed to be annexed by the US.

Favorite:
FDR all the way!

Least Favorite:
Calvin Coolidge… 'nough said

The Iraq War was entirely unnecessary and he rushed into it way too quickly. The man didn’t even know that there were Sunnis and Shiites before running in, don’t you think that’s the kind of thing someone should know before committing to a trillion dollar war? And what about those WMD’s? Do you think that’s something they should have investigated first?

OK I’ll give you that. I think I’m confusing that with another incident that was around the turn of the century. Point is, the US was not isolationist and I don’t think Wilson should be blamed with all those wars, but I guess it’s a little irrelevant now.

Favorite: FDR
Least Favorite (other than George W. Bush): Andrew Jackson

My favorite: easily Thomas Jefferson

Favorite: Thomas Jefferson… or Grover Cleveland

Mostly because my libertarian view points are in line with these fine fellas.

Least Favorite: Probably Andrew Johnson (not Andrew Jackson… he’s too controversial to really know IMO)

I don’t understand why everyone has to get so emotional about Bush. I bet in 100 years he’s going to be remembered in a way similar to Warren Harding. Not that that’s a good thing for him.

Hello everyone on College Confidential. I’m sorry. I did mean Andrew Johnson–not Andrew Jackson. I actually dislike Andrew Jackson though (he’s my bottom 7)… I hate when I type in things when under stress and then I mess up facts and orthography (I had to leave for my masjid right after the post). Oh well…

I also dislike Wilson VERY VERY much–he was an ideologist who didn’t realize that his actions would actually affect people like the Germans, the Turks, and the people of the Balkan peninsula. He’s the reason for World War II, terrorism coming from the Middle East due to fake countries that were made after the fall of the Ottoman Empire, and Bosnian genocide.
I cut that–I hate Wilson even more now than Andrew Johnson…

I think Bush will be remembered for being somewhat bumbling and incompetent. His prominence in history will largely be determined by the legacy of the Iraq War and how long the economic recovery takes (as well as any permanent effects).

Uh wasn’t he actually the voice of moderation among the Allies? Yes, I’ll grant that his actions did result in the Allies winning the war (causing German resentment => WWII).

Hello everyone on College Confidential. I believe that Bush’s legacy will be as the president who didn’t deserve to be. He wasn’t necessarily the worst president, but the Iraq and Afghanistan War were uncalled for and Bush actually increased tensions between the Middle East and America. In addition, his NCLB Act and the USA Patriot Act were horrible, controversial decisions on his part. The NCLB Act doesn’t deserve to exist for obvious reasons, and the USA Patriot Act encourages stereotypes and racism. In my opinion, the USA Patriot Act seems more like FASCISM than “PATRIOTISM.” Moreover, Bush was not the reason for the Crash of '08 (or '07 depending on your financial outlook), but his actions just deepened the US into more and more debt.
Looking at his entire presidency, he’s in the bottom ten on my list, but I guess his incompetency and foolish appearance saves him from complete perdition as president (maybe).

Hello everyone on College Confidential.
InquisitiveOne: His voice of “moderation” is cited by some historians, but many believe that he was more of an ideologist above all other things, not realizing that he would cause many points in history for the worse.

I don’t have a favorite but I just think George Bush is so cute. He has a baby face and looks like a monkey. Cutie cute.

Every word of that was true.

Seriously. Are you an international? That’s pretty impressive knowledge.

GOOD: there were plenty of presidents who tried to do good for American society.

BAD: Bush & Harding. Seriously, can any other administration get more incompetent than either of those two?
