who vs whom-English Help

I'm studying for the ACT and I'm trying to grasp the "who vs whom" concept but I just can't. I understand that you use who if you're referring to it as the subject and whom if you're referring to it as the object. However, given an example I don't understand it.

Can anyone put this in lighter terms or give examples, explaining them?

nah there’s a much easier way.

you would say “who” when you could rearrange the sentence and say “he” or “she” or “They”
example: “Who is going to the movie?” You would use “who” in that case because you could rearrange the sentence to say “He is going to the movie.” You couldn’t say “Him is going to the movie.”

you say “whom” when you could rearrange the sentence with “him”, “her”, or “them”.
example: “Whom can we turn to in a time of crisis?” This can be rearranged to say “We can turn to him/her/them in a time of crisis.” You would not say “We can turn to he in a time of crisis.”

There are usually like 2 of these on the english section.

Hope that helped :)

haha wow that’s extremely easy. thank you so much!

no prob! :)
