I applied for neuroscience! I LOVE HOPKINS<3 good luck to you guys:)

the neuroscience major seems pretty awesome as well.

scratch that, EVERYTHING AT JHU seems pretty awesome :P

YES JOHNS HOPKINS!!!

by the way guys… how much does the mid report worth?? which is due mid february which is after we get our acceptance decisions?? do they give out certain conditions/requirements that we have to meet?? such as maintaining 3.7 GPA, etc??

Hahha so true guitarman. And the neuro major is definitely amazing!

applied ed a few weeks ago, good luck to everybody here and hopefully well all be talking in real life next year! btw, does anyone know if the ed applicant pool is stronger/weaker than the rd pool?

just read that jhu extended its ed deadline because of the storm
hope no one was affected too badly!

Whoa. That’s so scary. I hope everyone is okay and that Maryland wasn’t affected too badly.

Neuroyale,
Obviously Hopkins will tell you not to slack off in the second semester and all that but there aren’t specific requirements.

If you’re accepted, I wouldn’t stress the mid-year report. Obviously you shouldn’t decide to skip all your classes or anything like that, but if you go from having a bunch of As and a B to a bunch of Bs and an A, they’re not going to rescind your acceptance over it. Once you get in, you can relax a little and stop stressing over school work… but you still have to do your school work. Dropping from a 3.8 to a 3.5 isn’t a big deal, dropping from a 3.8 to a 2.0 would raise some eyebrows.

eee happy november everyone
one month closer to december…

But it’s still so far away! Oh and does Hopkins announce the number of people who applied early on the day that decisions come out, or before that? I wonder if there was another huge increase in ED applications this year like last year (A 15% increase or something like that I think…).

yeah according to a tweet by JHU_Daniel, the ed applicant pool increased about 12-15 percent from last year. The ED rate last year was 40 percent…that probably means that the chance of ed applicants will likely decrease this year. I hope its not too much though ><

38 Days Everyone!!

-- And, i hope the increase in the pool will not have a drastic effect…

Omg…38 days. I’m so skerd. I’m thinking that its soo far away. Good luck everyone. I may not know all of you, but I’m nervous for us all.

I found this on a blog written by an admissions officer today:

Based on preliminary data, the Early Decision applicant pool is currently 1,432 applications. Due to a number of reasons (extended deadlines, delayed mail, cleaning up any processing errors), this number is likely to go up slightly over the next few weeks. Normally, the final official number is computed on December 1 so as to be accurate with totals from years past. Whatever the exact number is on that reporting date, what is clear is that for the fourth straight year and eighth time over the last ten years, our Early Decision applicant pool has grown. Currently, we are up 102 applications from last year, which calculates to an 8% increase. Again, we do expect this number to rise a bit in the coming weeks.

As we delve deeper into the early information some interesting data appears. The percent of women in the Early Decision applicant continues to rise, now at 47% when just a few years ago it was 44%. As well the number of under-represented minority applicants in the pool has grown for the third straight year. Unlike last year, where growth in the ED applicant pool came mostly from students interested in the social sciences, this year the growth appears to be with student interested in engineering. Finally, based solely on self-reported academic preparation data, not only have we received more applications but the quality of these applicants based on traditional metrics of GPA, test scores, and course rigor is also on the rise.

36 DAYS

Oh wow that so is sooooooo great. To those in pursuing engineering all I can say is do work and hope for the best. You are all probably well qualified. 36 DAYS!!! Let’s go.
