Yeah I’m with 45 percenter

considering that Penn’s increase since 2009 has been like 25%, this 1% decrease doesn’t mean anything. People that always wanted to go to Penn wouldn’t change their plans for Harvard or Princeton. If there are people like that, its those few that just care about getting into an Ivy and who wouldn’t get accepted for that reason. Admissions officers can see when an applicant wants in just for the name.

I don’t think Harvard/Princeton EA made any significant difference. Some numbers are up for schools and some are down. All of them vary. Because there is no blatant trend, no difference was really made. It’s just like any other year.

I had my interview today and my interviewer said that he was told that decisions will come out on the 9th. Not sure of the veracity of this statement, but for what it’s worth…

^ That would make sense, if they want to release them on the Friday comparable to the one on which they released them last year (the 10th).

If that’s the case… 20 DAYS.

Oh my gosh…less than 3 weeks :)

Now it feels too soon! o.O

Not really. I just wish I knew now. I am so impatient.

Haha before it was taking too long and now it’s coming too quickly.

Work on apps, they are distracting. So are acceptance letters from other schools :). I’ve found out that both help.

What schools have you been accepted to already?

Pitt for premed and duquesne may consider me for their medical scholars program. They’re just two local schools.

19 days!!! Ahhhh we’ll know so soon! I kind of don’t want to know, but on the other hand, I am DYING to know! I had my interview yesterday as well! I thought it went quite well for my expectations but…

2 questions:
- Honestly - how big/small a difference does the interview make (in your opinion)?

and… Now that we’ve discussed what we’ll all do if we get in:
2) What are you guys going to do if it’s bad news in 19 days?

1) It SHOULD make a big difference, but unfortunately, from what I’ve read, it doesn’t.

2) Cry. Then cry some more.

@aangel42:

I agree with laodicean. I wish it made a HUGE impact, but many admissions officers from Penn all say it only helps if you are on the cusp (between admit and reject). Essentially, your application that you submit via Common App, your transcript, essays, test scores, all of those other factors make up 99.9% of it. Think about it—1/2 of the applicants don’t even get an interview.

Cry a ton. Then try to move on.

On second thought, I’ll cry if it’s good or bad news…

I’m sort of prepared for a rejection though…not because I don’t think I’m qualified but because nearly all 4,500 of the applicants are qualified. It’s just the way it is.

and all of us are smart kids if we’re interested in Penn. If we don’t get into Penn, we’re going to get into some other reputable school.

Obviously I’ve imagined getting in and want that to happen, but I’m also preparing for the worst so I don’t crash and burn if I don’t get in on December 9th.

I’ll be at work when it comes out, so I’ll definitely be crying in front of customers for no apparent reason one way or another.

I’m honestly expecting a rejection. A deferral would even be a miracle. I’m trying to get over it now and look at other places.

ED School of Arts and Sciences

omg, just saw that the number of applicants for ED were slightly lower. Which means that the admit rate might still hover around 26%… hopefully

i just spent the last 40 minutes going through the 2015 decisions. That’s probably the fourth or fifth time I’ve gone through that thread.

I HATEEE THISSSSSSSSSS!

Guys, do you think my 3.56 UW GPA will destroy my chances if my breakdown looks like this:

Freshman - 3.42
Sophomore - 3.27
Junior - 4.00
