1) The students, Wharton curriculum, traveling opportunities, food allowed in libraries, and the squirrels :)

2) Yes. I visited the campus twice. Lots of construction noise, but Locust Walk was amazing. People complained about the weather, but I thought it was ok.

3) My dad and I went to the Chipotle nearby for lunch. I think I tasted the worst burrito bowl ever there.

4)…I want to rule the world After fixing up the Chipotle of course.

5) I’d probably go on with whatever I’m doing and then scream and cry like an hour later. Then, I’d go buy buckets of ice cream since I made a deal with my friends that if I got rejected, they’d buy me ice cream, but I’d buy them ice cream if accepted.

Applied to Vagelos LSM a few weeks ago, ED. From the Chicago area. Did all the essays. And 10 for sure!!

1) The combination of the city nearby and the amazing campus resources. And Ben Franklin, though he is dead, is someone I always liked…not sure why. I always felt he should’ve been the president instead of Washington.

2) Yup! It was professional yet fun. I could see myself having a close set of friends there and achieving everything I want to.

3) Rain. I love snow & sun…but I’m not the biggest fan of the rain.

4) It simply cannot be beaten. (Plus everything in 1).

5) SCREAM!! Then, post on Facebook (update Edu. History). And, order Penn Spirit Wear!

Applied to school of engineering (Jerome Fisher actually, but not banking on that at all haha)
Applied the day before
Loved the optional essay…I’ll see if they do too…
REPPIN THE BIG CT BABY!
I’d break the scale if it was limited to 10.

ohhh great. we MIGHT be accepted to college in 40 days!!! OH MY GOD

Oh and about Penn:
I love the city nearby, the ABCS courses and community service in West Philadelphia, finally getting to be in an environment with more indians <3 (something i noticed while visiting… it seems to be popular. And growing up, i’ve been one of the few indians)
I love the school spirit, the historical images and references within the school spirit (lol Quakers, etc), the research environment, the One University concept, the Penn med school (where undergrads can intern), and more and more and more!

Plus the urban location and the amazing reputation of the school and the generally happy people at Penn.

Ok so you might be tired of hearing from me but i figured out why people randomly starting talking about Penn. The questions were a good idea! OK, so, from my previous post, I can refine my answers:
What is your favorite aspect of Penn?
Urban and Research environment; plus school spirit.
Did you visit campus? What did you think of it?
I did, last spring. I thought it was absolutely beautiful, especially the Wharton building and one of the libraries. I wanted to go in a lab but I’m pretty sure the labs look similar to ones at universities here (LA) lol
Least favorite part about Penn? Cold? Which I want, but I know it’s going to be hard to get used to.
You want to go there mostly because… of everything I listed in the previous post.
The first thing you’ll do if you find out you got in! Wouldn’t be able to believe my eyes.
Getting into a college early and only having to apply to ONE SCHOOL is sooooooo a dream situation. But I’m hoping!

I didn’t do the optional essay…I felt like it would be redundant especially because of my Common App essay…my common app one is pretty personal

anyone get an interview? I got emailed literally two days after I sent my app in. I know it doesn’t mean anything about my application but I was still bouncing off the walls. It’s this sunday.

also, are we going to post Penn’s decision for us on here too? or should we make another thread?

@maani9422: We’ll probably have another thread (I think a moderator usually starts one), but we probably don’t need to be concerned about that until Dec 1!

from what I’ve heard, interviews don’t make much of a difference

but I feel like I’m an “on the edge” applicant so I want to take advantage of the opportunity

almost half of the applicants get interviews and its basically random but has to do with whether or not alumni in your area are part of the local Secondary School Committee

my interviewer is a professor at the University of Pittsburgh and I live in Pittsburgh, soo…

and Penn Masala is LEGENDARY! but actually haha they came to Bhangra in the 'Burgh last year
