Who's Applying to Siena/AMC and/or Union/AMC

I got amc interview notification, but for rpi rather than sienna or union.

guys i only applied to rpi/amc but i haven’t heard anything. did we get rejection letters if we don’t get supplements?

@vacal13 You might get your supplements later than other people. I thought I got rejected for the Union-AMC program before too, but I just got sent my supplemental application later than other people. I was probably like one of the last people processed or something. So, the same might probably apply to you.

Rejected pre-interview to Union/AMC! Hell yeah

how do you know you were rejected? did they send you an email/snail mail? or are you just assuming because you haven’t received an interview notification after turning in the supplement?

Email, yep. I submitted my app a while ago so they take time to send rejections.

We regret to inform you that you have not been selected for an
interview for the Leadership in Medicine Program, sponsored by Union
College, Union Graduate College and Albany Medical College. Since
the Admissions Committees choose from a very large pool of
well-qualified applicants, the selection process is difficult. We
are not able to offer interviews to all of the candidates who are
forwarded after the initial evaluation. Please be reassured that
this decision does not prejudice your application to Albany Medical
College at a later date.

oh my goodness. i haven’t received anything - interview notification or rejection after i submitted. does this mean i’ll be rejected too? :O

I don’t know. If you submitted your app by 27th and haven’t heard something, chances are, you’re probably on the bottom of their list. They already sent out supplementals to a second batch of applicant, so you’re probably going to be competing against them.

Does anyone know how many students get interviewed/accepted to the Union program?

In recent years, I heard it’s 100 interviewed, 35 accepted for 20 to matriculate; however, in past years, 100 have been interviewed, nearly 60 accepted for 20-25 to matriculate

The first week of January is almost over, and I still have not received anything from the Sienna/AMC program… The competition must be really stiff here too.

I got a letter today saying that I’m invited for an interview (Siena-AMC)…Is this a very competitive program? I just applied because I really wanted to be a doctor and the program seemed great. I just don’t know how competitive it is.

Hi rldmsdl12, I saw that you received an interview letter for Siena-AMC, and I’m getting really worried now. Could you please go through your statistics so that people like me can save ourselves from the anguish later? Thank you! :)

Hello rldmsdl12,

Did you already complete the second application packet for the Siena-AMC program, or do they not have one like RPI-AMC for the interview stage? Was it an e-mail or post office sent letter?

Hi PLHELP, my stats weren’t outstanding.
SAT- 2170 (760M 680R 730W)
GPA- 4.0 (unweighted)
IB Diploma candidate (took HL chemistry, HL math, HL history, HL English, SL physics and SL spanish)
ECs/honors: research project in Ukraine over the past two summers, had the thesis paper i wrote there published and presented, Hospital volunteering, Vice president of English Honor society, Chamber Orchestra, All-State Violinist, Pit Band, All-County Orchestra, won bronze in a translating competition (korean-english), outreach leader and keyboard player at church…ect.

To be honest, my essay probably helped a lot.

And Bangladeshi, no the packet did not come yet. They said it’s coming soon though and I have to complete it before the interview.

oh and it was a letter–not an email

Thank you so much, rldmsdl12! Your GPA is amazing, and so is everything else you’ve done!

I sent in my application very close to the deadline date, so maybe that is why I still haven’t received anything. :open_mouth: Do you think it could also be because my last name is basically at the end of the alphabet?

I think I got mine early because I live on Long Island…which is in NY.

Maybe that’s the reason! I will wait!

Hi rldmsdl12,

Thanks for the information, it helped a lot! You have really good extra-curricular activities. I live far away from New York, so it may take a while to get here. I hope I get accepted!
