A little rain on the Yale SCEA party – a reality check I wish someone would’ve given me and my son a couple years ago: We knew all about the low admission percentages, average admittee numbers, etc. and still thought he had a chance at HYPS – or at least one of those four. But he was rejected by all four – not even a single wait list. He was val with weighted GPA of 5.1/4.0 scale (highest ever in our HS), ACT of 34, 800 on USH subject test, 790 on Math subject test. Statewide champion in two academic ECs, two sports, several other ECs, leadership, great summer internships, etc. Even named one of top dozen “all academic” boys in our state. What he was NOT: a minority, a college athlete, a HYPS legacy, a national or international award winner…
Fortunately he was accepted to several other top-20 schools and is now a very happy student at one of them…dreaming about admission to H Law…but not expecting admission…

I am applying RD, since four of the eight colleges on my list have non-binding EA programs that would give me much relief to gain admittance to by the end of January.

If admitted, I would want to be an English major with a Writing Concentration. Still, I love all the other schools on my list and would not be disappointed at any of them in the slightest. An acceptance from Y would be pretty sweet though. :)

SCEA Yale 2016 :). Hopeful premed with BME major or biology.

Good luck to everyone!

Go SCEA! I’ll be applying as well. Best of luck to everyone. How’s the supplement treating all of ya?

My D is applying, seriously thinking about SCEA. Pondering Poli Sci with international relations as her emphasis. She is not expecting, but just hoping. She agrees with those of you who said stepping on campus “sealed the deal.” Good luck everyone, and you will end up where you belong…

I plan on applying SCEA for Yale…but I am super anxious about it, as thousands of other seniors around the nation are =

I wanna major in International Relations and minor in Linguistics!
But seriously, it would be GREAT to be a student there. gah.

I’m applying reg decision. Quick question: if you are not ea, does Yale send your application into the reg decision lot?

Yale SCEA 2016 :)

Economics & Mathematics, with a possible minor in Music (Violin)

Yale doesn’t offer minors so you would have to double major. ;)
