I applied EA and am waiting to hear back.

Son applied EA early Oct. and was admitted by the end of the month.

I applied Early Action as well... can't wait to see if I'm in or not

Have you visited the campuses yet? Is this your first choice school?

It's not my first choice school, and I haven't seen the campus yet. I think I am going there to visit soon though. Did your son see the campus? Did he like it (if he did visit)?

He decided on the schools he was applying to based on visiting them first. DePaul is on the quarter system and is now off on break so don't plan on going for a visit until January. Their main campus is on the near north side in Lincoln Park, a wonderful brownstone neighborhood, and their facilities are excellent. Newer student union, huge new athletic center, new or renovated dorms within the last five years, nice library, etc.--it's very impressive. Their Loop campus is in the business district downtown and is also very nice, new residence hall, upgraded facilities, and other colleges are in the area so it has a vibrant student feel. Both campuses are on train stops in order to get back and forth. Overall, DePaul is a solid school in a great city. It would be an excellent choice for someone looking for an urban college experience.

Wow, sounds good. I was talking to my parents and turns out me and my dad might take a trip there sometime during/after January... yea, it's kinda late, but hey, haha.

I think I'll just keep following GoBlueAlumMom around this forum and say, "I agree" to all her posts. All very true. I wish people would give DePaul credit where credit is due.

D is going this fall, applied EA after visiting last Nov. (We're from small town New England. ) VERY IMPRESSED with campus, Chicago, the neighborhood, the friendy students and faculty. Northeastern had been her top choice but fell in love with DePaul. She now talks nonstop of Chicago and can hardly wait to start college. So while many of her friends are headed to Boston schools, she's headed to the Windy City and couldn't be happier. I happened upon this college while web-surfing for large urban schools; it doesn't have much name-recognition here in the East and that's a pity.

monty_mum-- Congrats to your D! One of my friends from college has a freshman D there now. She has loved absolutely everything about it, the school, students, Chicago, you name it. DePaul has one of the best urban campuses/neighborhoods of the schools we visited, and it's price tag for a private school is reasonable in comparison. Understandable that your D. talks non-stop of Chicago. It's a favorite of many...such as awesome city. Just ask Oprah...LOL !!!

D is a freshman performance major in the Music School--which she chose over Indiana U. She loves the fact that the string faculty are both excellent and supportive. DePaul seems to be overlooked when students are applying to music schools. It was not on D's original list, but I am eternally thankful to the violinist who suggested it to us for cello. Chicago is hard to beat if you want an urban experience.

I love DePaul and the downtown area it's in. The students are so cosmopolitan and seemingly happy.
