I'd call it insulting. The program, and WashU's affirmative action admissions policy, glorifies less qualified blacks/mexicans/etc, not the truly (economically) underprivileged.

The whole point of affirmative action is to increase diversity and not necessarily to increase the number of the economically underprivileged accepted students. Besides, you have to ask yourself what the alternative would be. Should they have economic cut-off lines and say if your parents earn more than so and so amount, we can't accept you. Can you imagine how completely unfair that would be to reject someone just because their parents earn a bit more?

In addition, I really could care less about your nonsense of a post since your some self-indulged high school senior with a superiority complex. That was true until you got personal.

It must be a little embarrassing for you to have to rely on skin color to get into a selective college. If you want to get personal about it, ask yourself why top 15-ranked colleges have to accept minorities with sub 2100 SATs just to fill their quotas. Perhaps there aren't that many bright ones to go around.

If you are referring to SAT scores, then I should mention that I got a score higher than 2100 and I also scored higher than 750 on each of my SAT Subject tests. Now, I know that you will probably post your stats to try to show that you are more qualified or try to post someone else's stats who you believe was accepted only because of their minority status. Save them because I would rather not see them since I already know quite a few who probably were accepted only because of their minority status but I also know plenty more who were accepted only because of their legacy status or their athletic abilites or their extra-curricular involvement. Colleges have every right to accept who they feel adds to the educational process. If it's diversity that they want then so be it. But then again standardized test scores are no longer very important in admissions decisions. The essay, extra-curriculars, GPA, etc. are much more important now.

Also, I really don't know where you get your random "facts" from but I feel obligated to disprove those that are so inherently false that even President Bush would not utter them. Colleges DO NOT HAVE racial quotas. You might not know this but there actually was something called a Supreme Court case over this in which the Supreme Court ruled that it is illegal to maintain racial quotas.

I also just have to ask you why all the hate for the affirmative action program. College admissions committees around the country enthusiastically believe in the program because it has proven to be quite effective. Today, there are thousands of well-trained minority business, medical, legal, political, education leaders in this country because of affirmative action. Look at the opposite which is occurring at the present time in France. In France, there is absolutely no affirmative action and as a result racial tensions are at their peak and the Arab minority feels disenfranchised by the nation. Many of the restless youths who are poor, unemployed and uneducated turned to violent protests to display their frustration with the government. Do you want that to happen here? You might want to remember something called the LA race riots.

Do you suffer from the Adolf Hitler complex? In other words, are you some deranged, psychotic, Hispanic student who is embarrassed to say that his fellow Hispanics are not as "bright" as he would like?

Oh, and I happen to have a Wash U acceptance letter from the fall. If you want it desperately I can PM it to you.

Actually, I would very much like to see it. I do believe you but evidence is always nice, right?

Also, if you hate affirmative action so much, then why don't you just attend some school that does not offer affirmative action? Since I know barely any that are highly ranked and do not offer some affirmative action, you might have trouble finding a decent college that abhors affirmative action as much as you. I know that Princeton does offer affirmative action so that means you won't be able to attend because you will just be a hypocrite if you do. Oh darn!
