Who's going to picnic day?

My friends and I are almost decided on going to picnic day this saturday. A lot of my fellow classmates (even those who rejected ucd for other schools >=| ) and my alumni teacher will be attending. I want to check out the micromouse competition. It should be really fun!

So who’s going??

micromouse looks cool, i wonder if berkeley will take it for the 4th year, something needs to be done about that.

what is mechanical engineering putting on, is it just the ITS Hydrogen test vehicles that you can drive?

cal day > picnic day!

knock it off Larkin

knock what off? im not being mean...

Larkin, glad to hear you had a good time at Cal sounds like you liked it there. Did you decide yet?

Heh... You're allover forums saying CAL>[school name goes here]. To be honest, I don't like CAL much [for undergrad]. Many of my friends and family graduated from there. So far, not many of them enjoyed their undergrad years.

Two of my sisters went there (Cal) undergrad, along with my BF. Later my other sister went there for grad school. They all had a wonderful experience for the most part. IMHO there really is no perfect UC undergrad school, just one that fits you best.

o hey collegemom! i forgot that one night..hahah...i dont know yet, i want to go where collegemom is going! :D its going to be between sd and berkeley even though i kind of want davis but mommy wont let me.

Ah well, you must do what your mommy wants. Let us know when you decide.

o...the whole asian thing about prestige and blah balh . "why would you go to davis when you got into a school like berkeley/sd" im like bcuz i like it?!

Show her this information courtesy of anxious_mom

Here are some hard facts for you, courtesy of the National Science Foundation. (in case you've never heard of them, an explanation follows)

2 UCLA $849 Million

7 UCSD $646 Million

14 UCB $507 Million

18 UC DAVIS $482 Million

60 UC Irvine $234 Million

93 UC Santa Barbara $148 Million

109 UC Riverside $112 Million

131 UC Santa Cruz $78 Million

What is this? Rankings of research expenditures from the latest compilation by the NSF.

"The National Science Foundation (NSF) Survey of Research and Development Expenditures at Universities and Colleges (Academic R&D Expenditures Survey) is the primary source of information on separately budgeted research and development (R&D) expenditures within academic institutions in the United States and outlying areas. Conducted annually since FY 1972, the survey collects information on R&D expenditures by academic field as well as by source of funds. The results of the survey are primarily used to assess trends in R&D expenditures across the fields of science and engineering (S&E). This information is vital for federal, state, and academic planners in order to make decisions on future R&D funding priorities."

This shows what Federal ,state and other agencies think of the different UCs.

(They speak with $$$)

The R&D dollars have pushed UCLA and UCSD up in other rankings, and UCD is not far behind - in fact our $$ continue to rise quickly.

UCD receives more than double the research and development funding than Irvine.

This also translates into more research opportunities for undergrads - opportunities abound at UCD.

thanks collegemom :O. i dont think she'll care about that...its all about the name...-_-

Understood, but Larkin IMHO Berkeley is a cool place. You should be fine there. It is still in Nor Cal. What do you like about UCSD? I personally thought it was a little on the dead side.

yea i got there on a rainy day making it kind of worst....people were really nice though...the whole bus/shuttle thingy was cool haha...i really liked the engineering buildings...as for the social life i dont really consider that...im would rather study/play computer games :D

Be sure to tell your mom that by going to a college with a more prestigious name, you're guaranteed to be more wealthy, more successful, more happy, and live a better life.

Larkin you sound just like my son. :)

she likes to thinkk that inpltchy....haha collegemom :)

OK Larkin, so I dare you to send in your sir to CAL in the next 24 hrs.

NOOOOooooOoOo im going to cal day this sat. and hopefully it's fun.
