Who's going to UC Riverside???

I’d like to know who is going to Riverside or who is considering it. Why are you going there? What other schools did you get accepted to?

As for me… I have gotten into Irvine, Davis, and Riverside, and am still waiting on Berkeley, where I will be rejected. I am considering Davis and Riverside.

My Advice: Go to Davis. Riverside isn't the greatest.

Go to Davis. Riverside is for the rejects of UCI. UCI is for the rejects of UCLA. And UCLA is for the rejects of Berkeley.. even though the last statement isn't true anymore (at leats not on a consistent basis).

Riverside is filled with smokers, weed smokers, crack dealers.. and the city hates the school. Without the university, Roverside will just be a low lower class town filled with rusty cars and used tires.

UCR is very famous for being a school filled with people who dont want to be there. Last year, not a single person in my school wanted to go to Riverside. That's out of a class of 500, with about 150 Riverside acceptances. In other words, EVERYONE who decided to enroll weren't accepted to another UC.

My friend is going to Riverside for business and applied to no other UC (Although she was capable of getting into UCI and UCD). I know my other friend, who went to college two years ago, turned down Irvine for Riverside because of their business program also.

yeah business program ive heard about it Riverside if u wanna do the bio to med school program its tough UCR is ok if u can kick ass there then go people are dissing it way to much They dont understand that the UC system was created to allow most students to be able to go to one of the UC schools so UCR has to accept a bunch of people

man i wish u said berkeley is the rejects of ucla......cuz i got rejected from LA...and dying for berkeley....( #1 choice ) ....

same for me berk is #1
i also got rejected from la
but if u have good stats then u still stand a decent chance ive heard

take note of stayoutofriverside's comments. while very brash and sometimes rude, they're very honest and well-supported. he makes very, very good points. i was laughing while i was reading his arguments.

Last year I got rejected at UCLA but got into Berkeley(spring admission), so there is still hope for you all.

hahaha he's hilarious.

Don't go to Riverside. Even if the education wasn't bad, it'd still be a disadvantage because it has such a bad reputation.

Heh, as for Berkeley, I'd be hoping for an acceptance... if I didn't apply to EECS!!!

UCLA is, at best, at par with Berkeley. Last year, at my school (best public school in nor-cal), a LOT of people made it to UCLA. All but 2 or 3 people who decided to go to Berkeley didnt make it to UCLA (out of a total of 50 people going to Berkeley, including 2 people with 4.00UW and 1600 SATI, Caltech admitees). For lesser schools, the results can be different.
I made it to both schools, college of L&S with 4.3 and 1490.

hey physiclas87, i am on the same boat as you. i am decidig between uci, ucsb, and ucr + honors + schalorship. i don't really know what the honors thing in ucr will do. i just hope i make sd, which will make my decisioin much easier.

LOL

Deciding between Riverside or Davis is like deciding between getting a kick in the nuts or getting a chance to attend a fantastic UC.

I'll let you figure out which is which. ;)

ucr if u get full ride go thats 80k u get for free

Ummm...
UCLA = UCB >>> UCR

im going to ucb instead

exilio: hahah.....lmao

@bubbles4sale: isnt davis considered rejects of berkeley? and how bout comparing uci and ucd for engineering?

UC Davis wins for engineering if you go purely by rankings.

Anyways, I've heard UCR referred to as the "community college" of the UC system. Personally, I would rather go to a CC and transfer if that was the only school I got accepted to. Most of the people from my school last year who go there don't seem to be too happy, and a large portion opted to go to CC instead.

i think i might go to UCR simply because of the free money, honors program and the fact that the honors discussions are led by the professor rather than the TA

you guys can kid yourselfs all youd like but the eduction you get from UCR and UCI really arnt that different.

^isnt davis considered rejects of berkeley?
i heard this to alot haha
