who TRULY wants to go to UCI?

I was wondering who ACTUALLY wants to go to UCI or is just going here because it's their "fallback" school. I've heard that a lot of UCLA & Berkeley rejects come to UCI and are still salty about their rejections. Is this true?

I've wanted to go to UCI for over a year now. And even if I had gotten accepted into Cal or LA, I would've still chosen UCI.

I know many others who had UCI as a first choice also.

You forgot UCSD rejects as well. Let's face it, tons of Berkeley/UCLA rejects go to UCSD, UCSD rejects go to UCI/UCSB/UCD, and those rejects go to UCSC. Heck, you might say Berkeley is full of Stanford rejects :), so who "truly" wants to attend any of these schools?

i got accepted to UCSD and UCLA but i am going to UCI for scholarship=]
yes i truly want to go to UCI over SD and LA.

It's natural for anyone to be salty of their rejects through their first month of college since they (or we :D) can only think from their (or our :p) dreamy imaginations, not from experience.

I got over mine after the first month here after finally grasping "what matters is what you do, not where you are" (Before I thought it was a rhetorical BS from Stanford to ease their rejects). Anyone who is still salty with their rejection after the first two quarters are only hurting themselves now with no gain, especially if their plan includes graduate school.

In my dorm, those who are still bitter about their rejections are those who are not doing well academically. Like as if they gave up on their life.

I agree with you BirdKiller, the people who continue to be salty are hurting themselves. UCI is a really good school & i'm really glad that i'm choosing to go there.

i really wanted to go to UCI... my first choice was USC but i knew with my scores, it was out of my reach. but UCI seemed like a match. i stayed over for a couple days and i could picture myself at UCI. but unfortunately i was rejected tear so now i get to go to UCSB. i'm thinking of transferring especially because i didnt like it much when i visited...

I was neutral towards Irvine, than upset at feeling forced to go there, but now I'm truly happy about it. I wasn't forced, I had other good options, but I never seriously considered them.

Let me also point that UC Irvine gives you guys the impression of a "fallback" school here at CC because it is generally the last UC except for UC Berkeley and UCLA in which most people here will get their decisions from.

If the admissions systems between UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara, and UC Irvine switched, then whoever got UC Irvine's system would portray itslef as a "fallback" school since it's the most likely the last decision a person will receive.

But that shouldn't excuse it from blaming the admissions system. I got a bit ****ed too when I was waiting for my decision through the entire March. Decision finally came in on the very last day of the month.

When I went on a tour at UCIrvine, one of my guides told me something really interesting. He said it is/was a fallback school for most people, himself included. But then they go there, and once they do it's like they can't see themselves anywhere else, they love it there so much.

And the thing is, I've sent my appeal for UCLA, which was my top choice and was rejected from. And I think it's got a good chance of getting me accepted there, because it's a pretty effin good appeal. But in the meantime, I've truly fallen in love with UCI simply from a visit and looking at it online... and am now probably going to pick it even if I am accepted to UCLA. Crazy eh.

Wow Caitlin that is crazy haha. Well that's good that you're choosing UCI tho cuz they're both really good schools, but most ppls would wanna go UCLA instead.

I got accepted to UC Davis and UC Irvine and right now I'm trying to decide where to go. My parents want me to go to UCI because it's closer but I want to go to Davis because it seems to be a fit for me (I've been doing a bit of research). I'm going to the Explore UCI thing on the 19th so hopefully UCI will enlighten me with something Davis doesn't have.

i truly want to go to UCI!

I also truly want to go to UCI. I'd take it over UCB even because I'm a theater major. Of course I'd choose UCLA over UCI, but LA and Irvine are the only two UCs I'd consider going to. Good thing I got in!

I was really really bitter my first year at UCI. The second year did get better for me as I liked to school more but still had no pride. I eventually transferred to UCLA.

^ Can I ask why? Was it because you went there without even wanting to be there, therefore not giving it much of a chance? Or were there real reasons why you didn't like it?

I just want to know because my decision will be between UCI and UCLA most likely, so I'm trying to find out any pluses/minuses about both. What didn't you like about UCI?

not me. it wasn't even one of my backup school. my backup as SDSU (waitlisted) so my options are uci and ucd. ..I have to attend UCI because it closer to home than UCD.

I really dont have a choice. ):

i got accepted to UCI and UOP(university of the pacific) and i dont know which one i should go to. my major is biological sciences for both.

USC was my frist choice and I got rejected.
I got rejected most everywhere else, but I would still choose Irivne over most UC's except LA even if I hadn't.
