Who's still yet to decide between UCB/UCLA/USC

I feel like I'll be the last to turn in my SIR. Final exams are over (finally)!

USC? Hey do you know where I can find its requirements for a psych transferer?

i wish i could apply to usc but they don't accept the units i will be taking in high school...

Scout.com: California Forums List

The above^ is a nice thread.

Beardy:
To answer your question, you can do what I did. I followed the transfer curriculum at my school as it pertained to my major. Don't sell yourself short. A lot of people have the attitude that, "oh since the school I'm interested in doesn't require this class, I shouldn't take it." If you do that, you're in a way, limiting yourself.

jfk:
I think you can always apply to USC as a sophomore applicant from a CC.

true, but then they'd look at my high school transcript and there's nothing too great there...

College is always a great way to redeem yourself. Don't wish, just do it. You have nothing to lose (except maybe a few dollars and some time). If your gut feeling is to apply to usc, then by all means do so. There have been many applicants with rough high school stats that still got accepted to USC.

thanks for the advice

i believe they require SAT/ACT scores if you apply as a sophomore...do they require SAT II scores as well? or is SAT I just fine? and can i still take it during my senior year (after most college deadlines for apps) or my first year in CC?

If you're a freshman applicant, or a sophomore applicant, chances are they do require SAT scores. SATII scores? I'm not so sure, but refer to the USC FALL 2008 transfer thread, I'm sure they know more about the requirements. If you want the link let me know.

i just checked USC's site and it states:

[quote]
SAT/ACT
USC requires either SAT or ACT (with the optional Writing test) scores from:
• all freshman applicants attending high school in the United States (recommended for students in Canada);
• freshman applicants who attend overseas American or international schools following the U.S. education system; and
• transfer students who have accumulated fewer than 30 transferable semester units.

it seems that i will have completed 30 units by the spring before i transfer so i would not need to send in my SAT scores, correct?

I've yet to decide between Berkeley, Davis, and LA.

?_?

I just drove out to UCLA today, and boy, I am so jolly to have chosen such a great school to apply to.

Cheba: Berkeley

lol, easily said Remmert as such you are transferring there!

My suggestion to you, cheba, is follow the strength of your department. If you're looking to get a BA from a big name school, I say Cal probably has the upper hand (but really, it's just two spots different, not really a big deal).

I would probably toss Davis out of the picture (unless your department is super strong there). However, no shame in picking the "lesser" school, as long as you love it there.

but... because I can: UCLA.

theicon-i'm still choosing between UCLA, UCB and hopefully USC-i haven't heard yet and it's my first choice! :(

wow...there are people who still haven't decided on a school? Don't you have to send your official transcripts through Fall 2007 by June 2nd to the school you submit your SIR to?

Well anyways, good luck picking your school. I think you should disregard the caliber of the school and pick the one you will be happiest at. After all, you are not going to excel at Berkeley if you absolutely hate it there. :)

Strength of department is important for grad school, but in general you want to go with reputation of the school for undergrad studies.

What far outweighs any of that IMO is to visit each campus and surrounding area, then go from there.

I finally decided on Berkeley. :)

well, i got my decision and even though i submitted my SIR to UCLA...i'm going to USC and paid my $300. so go trojans!

Hmm. ksbr, I thought you would attend Berkeley. I guess not!

HAHAHA icon. you're funny ;)
