Who's taking the March 12th SAT

oh hrm i think i get it now...
you did 443 right? that's a permutation so you're assuming that order matters. in this case however, it doesn't having plumbers A-B-C is the same as having plumbers B-C-A. so you have to use the combination formula to solve it. nCr=n!/(r!(n-r)!) ok so for the experienced plumbers n=4, the number of plumbers you can choose from. r=1 the number of spots you can fill with experienced plumbers. plug it into the = and you get 4321/3/2/1=4. for the inexperienced ones, do 4nCr2 for the four plumbers to choose from and the 2 spaces to fill. that'd be 4321/2/1=6. you have six possibilities for the inexperienced plumbers to fill their slots and four for the experienced ones to fill theirs. multiply them together to get the total # of possibilities, 24. or you can just plug 4nCr2 * 4nCr1 into your calculator like i did. :D

ook a practice test. suprisingly the hardest part was the 1st grammar section where I had to pick the "best" version of a sentence. The first 10 or so problems, I thought all the choices were all bad :-P

about to grade it.. a tad worried. lo. if anyone else took practice test #2, I'd like to discuss some discrepancies.that will probly crop up

what the crap? when I convert my raw scores into the scaled scores, they give me a 60-100 point range

just use the official curve for the march 12th sat to figure ur score...

Raw Score, Scaled Score

there's an official curve? and doesn't every SAT test curve differently?

That's just an example curve of the practice test CB offers. It's "official" by no means but is a good estimate.

seems a wee bit generous

I'm getting up bright and early this Saturday to take them too.........

I've done pretty well on the PSAT's with absolutely no prep, but I hear that SAT's are usually easier and that your score usually increases by about 100 points.............however, it might be a scary urban legend

I'm not worrying too much because I'll be taking the real and final SAT next year, and I've already signed up for an online class and ordered a book

The madness is starting........

GOOD LUCK TO ALL ;)

helix -- i've heard that the sat is easier too. we'll just have to hope it's true ... i didn't prep either and i got a 214 on the psat (sophomore year).

how are you 15 and taking the SAT are you a sophmore?

yes, i am a sophomore. i've decided to take it this year so that i'll have a good idea of my abilities (how much i'll need to prep) and i won't have to stress out about it when it really matters that i do well on it.

Same here. I'm taking it this year. Then I'll know if I'm set to do pretty well or not and what I need to do for preparation. I'll know if I'm stronger with math or verbal. Believe it or not, even though my sn is Texasmathwhiz I got 10 points higher on verbal on the practice test for the old SAT.

*****, only 105 hrs left and still have to cram in 2343 words

my friend said she memeorized 4000 words, and only 2 of those were on there. dosent that stink...

God bless us all.

don't u mean help?

I am, as well.

I feel comfortable taking the test, since I've taken a lot of practice tests, but difficult Sentence Completions and Identifying Sentence Error questions still scare me...

another_asianboy, take a deep breath and relax......

I find people do much better when they are in a good frame of mind rather than when they are cramming like crazy: eat breakfast, do something fun the night before, and GET A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP

You can learn all of those words, but if you're beat the day of the test from so much studying, your efforts will just go to waste becuase you won't be able to keep your eyes open long enough to read the question.....

I'm sure you're well prepared, take a breather.......and you'll be fine

I know, you'll do SO much better if you relax. I know a girl who spazzes out over every little thing, and she's not very smart or the best or anything. All that worrying & crying didn't get her anywhere, and the only thing she succeeded at was making everyone around her feel irritated by her presence.
So just....chill. :)

The curve that I posted up there is actually the official curve for the March 12th test. The college board sent it out to some testing companies (princeton review) and others...

So if you want accurate practice test scores, you should prolly use that curve.
