Why are GPA's so high at UC's?

becuz the best in california and the nation apply to the top UC's

Because grade inflation happens when "the best in california and the nation" come to UCs

Percentage of out of state students at UC schools.

Berkeley- 9%
Davis- 2%
Irvine- 3%
UCLA- 5%
San Diego- 3%
Santa Barbara- 2%

Are you trying to tell me having less then 5% of your school population, considered best in the "nation?" Honestly, it just comes down to grade inflation, and the fact that California has a lot of students, of which most stay instate. All you need to get into a UC is a high rank, and be a minority. But mainly as long as your top 10% you get in.

IMO most of the California schools are over rated. I'd rather go to a school like william and mary or tufts, which is approx. 20 spots a head in rank.

^ so you telling me the best do not apply to UCLA, UCB?. Tons of school has gradeflation in california dood. also...about u said u need to e a minority to get into a UC..haha such bs man.

I do agree with you the best do apply to the UC system. But of which the "best students" would be a limited phrase, for most of the nations best students don't even bother with applying to the UC system. Reason why, is UC favors in state students by a large extent. UC is also a public system school system, and I will not debate with them on the issue of choosing in state students, because I am able to see why they favor in state.

Percentage of students white/non-hispanic
Santa Barbara 50%
UCLA 35%
Berkeley 32%
Santa Cruz 52%
Irvine 27%

The facts show that it does play a role. I do admit, California is a very diverse place, I won't argue with you on that. But the fact is if you have some one of Korean decent (not hitting on Korea, just using as an example) and another kid who is white. The Korean kid will be chosen. I'm not going to argue about it, it's part of life, I understand.

I would argue with you some more, but about 50% of what you typed, I was unable to understand due to such poor grammar. And back it up with facts, and not personal opinion.

Thought you would like to know that through a referendum, affirmative action is illegal in the state of California.

Decent->Descent :)

Kinglin, by the way, I saw your other post and I think that you are competitive for Syracuse. I think you can also apply to slighty higher "ranked" schools as well.
