Since around 55% of the student body is female, why isn't the ratio more like 50/50?

Because girls are more academically competitive than guys? I wouldn’t go so far as to say males require “affirmative action” to balance out their performance yet but many colleges have begun giving more leeway to men.

There are a lot of articles these days on how boys are falling behind girls in school. I think public education has been working on bringing girls up to speed the last few decades, but now there is a disparity the other way around.

Based on a QUICK google psuedo-research, boys are falling behind cause they’re not being encouraged as much as girls. Supposedly, it’s also more “masculine” to not be good at academics, as opposed to sports. There also seems to be a lack of male role models.

Fun quote:
“Girls are so outperforming boys in school right now, one statistician said he took it out to its absurd endpoint and said at the present trend, the last man to get his bachelor’s degree will do so in 2068.”
Lol. I might actually live to see that day.

I think that it has to do with males more interested in making money early on than females, so they skip school and work right away. Secondly and probably much less frequent, boys feel expected to pick up slack when a home is struggling financially.
