come on, if you dont even know where you want to go, you miss the most important on your college app, enthusiasm.................

it's not even about the enthusiasm, it's more about you picking the school that is right for you - not the best school that fits your stats.

well i dont think it is wrong to give recommendations..people go to there highschool counsellors for stuff like this everyday

people may be looking for colleges where their stats fit. then they probably look at the colleges and see which they like. this is waht i hope they do.

i dont even think its about enthusiasm as much as self-confidence.. honestly if you're saying "oh noez im valedictorian with 2390 SATs.... DO I HAVE A SHOT AT HARVARD?"

two issues i have:

it makes people w/ lower GPA & SATs feel bad about themselves

are you bragging????

I think venkater's comments reflect what the normal person is asking for.

Looking back on my previous posts, I didn't know where to start my searches, I didn't know what schools were good, if there were rankings out there (no, I wasn't aware of the US News rankings). I mean, once I got a general thought of where I could get in, what offered what, where my parents would let me go, then it came down to "where is the right place for me", but there are so many steps before that, and I know why some are asking, because there are kids out there that don't know colleges, if they are good or not, and if they are truly a "fit".
