Why are transfer acceptance rates usually higher than freshman acceptance rates? (for UC's)

Total 203,700 for Freshman vs. 46,155 for Transfers

  1. 6 of the 9 UC campuses offer TAG which guarantees admission if the applicant meets the GPA and course requirements.
