Why can't letter of recs. be from freshmen year teachers?

Two teachers I had freshmen year were two of the teachers I had the best student-teacher relationship with. It sucks that most colleges don't allow freshmen year teachers to write college of recs. This year, I have so many students in all my classes that it's so hard to form a good relationship. My history, math, english, and science teachers this year all blow; they are all very distant & not personal at all (granted, they have to deal with 45+ students period everyday).

Thank god for my 10th grade english teacher. I just hope for better senior year teachers

I agree. My freshman year teachers knew me better than my junior and sophomore year teachers do, primarily because I put more time into my classes back when I didn't have so much to do for EC's, standardized tests, and extra programs.

Actually, some colleges allow letters of recommendation from freshman teachers. Depends on the college.

I personally think that there is a good reason for not having freshman year teachers do it. I don't know about anyone else, but I know that I am not the student or person I was freshman year, and I most of the teachers I had back then I haven't seen since. The one's that I have seen again see the new person that I am. I think that there is a good reason for this policy

If your freshman year teachers know you OUTSIDE of class (ex.s/he coaches your baketball team) you can choose them...

I think the idea is that a 14 year old changes a lot as they become an 18 year old.
