convince me. i am split 50 50.

i'm in ur place too...i can't seem to choose now between wellesley and this six year medical program at my state school??!??!?

ahhh...the fury and anger!!!

good luck...i'll need some too

The major things I hear on this discussion:

1) Dartmouth is, from what I hear from my friends who attend, truly in the middle of nowhere. Wellesley is only kind of in the middle of nowhere--couple of miles out of Boston.

2) Basic LAC vs. larger university decision--I have friends who turned down Dartmouth (Cornell actually seems to be another that gets turned down for Wellesley O_o) because they wanted the small, liberal arts experience for undergraduate, and figure that they can move on to a larger university if they decide to go to graduate school. You're close with your teachers here, don't have to deal with TA's, and generally recieve more guidance than at a university. In short, you recieve all of your teacher's/administration's attention, not just some of it.

I don't know a lot about Darthmouth particularly. I know that the schedule is very odd (you have to go in the summer). That can be disadvangateous if you are hoping that your breaks will coincide with your friends, but I think it allows you to get an internship during the school year.
Wellesley's schedule has us getting out for breaks and returning later than most of my friends (off by about a week or two) but your mileage my vary. As for ivy league schools, I think Dartmouth is the one that is the closest that you are going to get to an LAC experience.
Darthmouth is in the middle of no where compared to Wellesley, but that doesn't stop Wellesley students from whining that the bus only runs on the hour (my MIT friends are impressed that the bus is so cheap).

Can you really envision spending the next four years of your life in Hanover? It's a very important question, seriously.

I am going to apply to wellesley this year and I went on a college tour in Nov. Although I did not visit Dartmouth, I went to wellesley and I have to say that it is the most beautiful little town I have seen in america. You can be in Boston in a few minutes and still have all the benefits of a quiet little town. Also, the town and campus is very well maintained, not like other schools I visited.
Well, maybe we will meet there next year.

A lot of people look at little towns and whine that places close early or there is nothing to offer, but I think that if outdoor sports are a significant part of a person's life or recreational time, that they should choose Dartmouth over Wellesley.
