Why college students are so liberal.

I honestly doubt it.

Younger people are almost always more liberal than older generations. It’s just how it is. End of story.

This thread made me lose a TON of respect for big east beast…

Conservatives are a burden to the advancement of the U.S.

Interview with a typical conservative:

Gay rights? No. Not what Jesus would want.

Woman’s choice? No. Not what Jesus would want.

Extremely loose gun laws? Yes!

Thoughts on Islam? Hateful religion. Not welcomed.

Illegal immigrants? They all just want to sell our kids cocaine.

Thoughts on President Obama? Socialist, Muslim, un-American, pig.

Thoughts on Sarah Palin? Very intelligent lady.

Interview with typical liberal:

Military: Don’t need it. Take that budget and spend it on welfare.

Taxes: Awesome. Raise 'em if you can. Don’t stop till all wages are equal.

Gun control: The Constitution gives people the right to own guns, but we all know that document doesn’t matter.

Illegal immigrants: Open the borders. Let everyone in.

Thoughts on former President Bush: Nazi, Terrorist, War-Mongerer, Monkey.

Looks like both sides can play this game.

I think it was Winston Churchill who said if you’re not a liberal at 20 you have no heart and if you’re not a conservative at 40 you have no brain.

Not really.

I drew conservatives as God-obsessed, trigger-happy, narrow-minded, reactionary, white supremacists.

Your ultimate insult for liberals is that they’re peaceful, welcoming people, that raise taxes, and dislike George W. Bush.

Not really.

Well, to be fair, I could describe liberals as God-hating, destructive, narrow-minded, reactionary socialist racists as well. But that would only be the fringe. Both sides have their lunatic fringes, but the moderate Conservatives and moderate Liberals usually are nothing to be too concerned about.

Do you know what reactionary means?

It’s obviously the exact opposite of conservative.

So what exactly are your thoughts on gay rights, abortion, immigration, Islam, Obama and Palin?

They start out Liberal, until they open up their first paycheck after college

Well, do we need it? At least, did we need to spend trillions of dollars invading and occupying Iraq and Afghanistan - when the terrorists who attacked us were… oh yeah, Saudis.

But I forgot, Dubya was all buddy-buddy with the crazy Islamist Saudis. Can’t bomb them, no sir.

Did we seriously just revive this thread to post this garbage?

To put it ignorantly: because it looks bad to be a Conservative.

One: there is NO proof Churchill said this.
Two: liberal and conservative are much different in the UK and a century ago.
Three: He passed one MAJOR Act in 1911 that essentially established social welfare in the UK- a very “liberal” thing nowadays. Oh yeah, and he was 37. I doubt he swung radically “right” in the next few years after that.

Sorry, I just really hate that misconception. /rant

quote=ThisCouldBeHeavn obviously the exact opposite of conservative.
Best brush up on your political vocabulary, because you’re wrong.

Libertarians rock

@polar- I think you missed the sarcasm.

But I even checked dictionary.com before posting!

I always think it’s weird when Americans quote Winston Churchill on politics. His father came from perhaps the most prominent Aristocratic family in England. His mother was the the daughter of mega-wealthy American businessman. This was his family’s home (note that much of the property is not visible in the picture). He was certainly a great leader, but you can’t get anymore stereotypical fat-cat conservative in terms of background.

Gay rights: Don’t have a problem with them.

Abortion: Don’t care about it one way or the other. I can see both sides however.

Immigration: Seal the border. Giant fence, lava pit, mines, whatever. No problem with immigrants as long as they come here legally. As for the illegals that are here already, they can stay providing they don’t commit any crimes. No path to citizenship for illegals though; if they want to try to become legal, they can go back to their own country and apply like most law-abiding people do.

Obama: He’s an elitist, but I think he was humbled a bit by the latest election. Don’t agree with many of his domestic policies, but feel like he has been doing a good job managing the war. Probably a decent person. Hope he loses in 2012 though.

Palin: Can’t stand her. Still, the amount of flack she takes is ridiculous. Someone needs to tell the left to get over her already; she’s not gonna be President.

Any other questions?
