I have read pages and pages of thread from people that ask for help on this issue. I, myself, am having the same problem. I have a great opportunity for a career change. The company wants to see my transcripts but i cannot get them due to money owed to the school. I think people that post back questions of financial responsibility and financial advice are missing the entire point here; that these two issues ,owing on school loans and requesting school transcripts, should not coincide at all. My financial obligation is noted, thank you, but that is my business and is not why I am writing. The bigger point in question is: is there a way around this? Do companies themselves have the power to get your transcripts? Do schools? One should not have to pay thousands of dollars to get a transcript released when that is why we went to school in the first place; to get a good job, get married, and have kids. It’s what were all meant to do right?
Anyway. My biggest question: Do companies, schools, or organizations have the power to request your transcripts? With your knowledge of course. Or will the school just tell them the same thing? That you owe money and they can’t release them without payment.------- someone else’s statement that I will reply to
The college agreed to provide an education and you agreed to pay. If you don’t pay, withholding transcripts is one of the powers they have.
If you directly ow the school money, then they can withhold transcripts. No, no one else can request your transcripts. Only you can have them sent to companies, individuals, other schools.
How the World Works: if you like sign a petition to put a cap on the tuition costs for NON IVY LEAGUE SCHOOL here’s some of my reasoning I did lots of research into WHERE EXACTLY 50k per child is going! -emlbee
Economists have a name for this: COST DISEASE term coined to explain why the cost of education has rise so much faster than the average prices of goods and services (cited material)
- General productivity improves in an economy so companies make more money and more pay raises because apparently more money will give each kid that paid 50k “more education”
… Sarcasm
2)Some sectors like education are stagnant meaning here are NO significant gains in productivity!
- as wages rise across the economy colleges need to pay THEIR FACULTY MEMBERS COMPETITIVE SALARIES! I’m talking about professors who don’t even have a Harvard education but is charging the price of Harvard education… Someone give me the logic! Only ivy leauge schools should charge 50k any other state funded or private school deserves a cap on their tuition unless proven that their professors or education is elite!
- As a result colleges pay faculty and staff more even also trying to compete with other schools they spend your tuition on luxury gyms so that they can get more kids instead of using the money to invest in a better education they also build up their sports teams because that’s hose the govt always them more money. But for what more money isn’t being used to help kids that are paying for school out of pocket these fancy gyms that kids hardly use are not helping them pay for thier books! Several schools have a multitude of administrative staff getting paid questionable salaries to council students ! Also to prep better food in the cafeterias investing into franchises to advertise at their college when the money can go to a hold struggling to pay their school fees on time and prbly has the cure to cancer in his head but had to drop out of school because of no help yet the older generation wants a smarter america!
As of 2015 the average American which is the working class( that barely recieved financial assistance at all when there the ones that make this population)has an annual income of 55k to 75k but yet has to feed their family put four kids through school when he average school now is 50k a year 20k ️Plus the father mortgage any car loans. This makes the system seem as though it is designed to put people in debt instead of creating a smarter America to have a better future for their kids! To be continued and yes don’t listen to the role who said there is nothing you can do they are the reason we are in the situation now be a mover and shaker join me in my petition for the federal representatives to put a cap on college tuition costs for a brighter future and more educated america which I might add that the average American as of 2015 highest education leaves in HIGHSCHOOL/GED!!! And rank pretty low in the world for education MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Sour generation are the idealist let’s make a better world for one another
Email me for the petition and spread the word we can be hanging out little siblings future for a smarter america #smarterAmerica

@harvardandberkeley is correct, however, please remember, applicants for jobs often sign “blanket waivers” that permit the prospective employer (or his agent, such as a professional investigative firm) to access transcripts.
So, presumably you’ve already been to college, right?
