<p>It seems like most of the colleges I look at only superscore the SAT.
I know a few superscore ACT, but most don't.</p>
<p>Why is this?</p>
<p>Actually quite a lot now superscore ACT but it is still a small minority in relation to those that superscore SAT.</p>
<p>The reason is partly cost, partly the effect of testing agency positions. As to cost, historically, College Board, for the SAT always sent all scores you had every time you ordered any sent and thus there was only one fee to send multiple scores. ACT always sent only the particular score ordered and thus to send multiple scores you had to pay multiple fees. Thus, colleges knew it would be more costly for applicants to send multiple ACT scores if they adopted superscoring for the ACT. The second and probably overriding factor is that College Board has always taken a neutral position as to whether superscoring was proper while ACT took the position that it was not in that doing so may not accurately reflect the applicants ability based on ACT score.</p>
