Why do people always make fun of Barnard?

Apple => Core, I get it! That’s pretty funny.

I think the props change sometimes, which explains why I didn’t know anything about apples. This past May, CC had little stuffed lions, I think, and SEAS had giant inflatable hammers? I think that sounds right. We had sunglasses. SIPA had inflatable globes, and I forget the rest.

HAMMERS! Yep, I think that’s what SEAS had in 09 as well. I think the school of social work had something inflated that might be considered inappropriate in some circles. Has to do with birth control…at least that is my recollection. :)

My daughter had sunglasses in 2010 – in the pouring rain. Do you know that all Barnard women look exactly alike while dressed in cap & gown & wearing sunglasses? At least that’s what it seemed like to me trying to find my daughter from afar. She was in there somewhere…

Yeah. In fact, I did know that, Calmom! But we were aided by the fact that when my d graduated, many of the students took off their robes. It was just too hot!

But that year, just a couple days before when Barnard held their own ceremony (with Hilary Clinton as the featured speaker…you had Meryl Streep…wish we could have switched! ), we all FROZE!!! It was rainy and windy and in the 40’s. But we were covered, so it was all good. All GREAT, actually. I love all the Barnard/Columbia traditions surrounding graduation!

In 09 the Barnard women had gummy bears to toss up since you can’t throw sunglasses.

Everyone tosses the stuff around a bit – part of the fun. But nothing is thrown at anyone.

The School of Public Health had inflated, floating condoms.

Sometimes Barnard has Grammy Bears. The theme is bears.

The sunglasses are apart from that.
