UCSC is my number one school and as for the record that i have read there rankings amongst other institions in engineering/physics/bio/econ are far higher than davis SD or SB…why do ppl talk )) then?

I have read so many posts where students are considering to go to ucsc just because they are afraid that they might not get into “davis/sd/sb” …

is ucsc academically wise that bad? what is with the whole potheads issue…and homeless people in downtown SC?

Every UC are good schools and eachhave their own reputation. The whole pothead thing is prob exaggerated because I’ve visited it many times and it’s not too bad. Academically it’s still a good school and its theUC but people always clump it together with UCR and UCM which obviously aren’t the bestUC but there’s nothing wrong with them since all theUC except UCM are ranked top 100

No one’s denying that UCSC is a good school, but the pot presence there is way more prevalent than at any other UC. One of my cousins go there and I’ve been let into the dorms several times before, and I’d be really surprised if there’s a UC that has more pot than SC. But then again, abstaining from pot is not considered a social stigma there and those that don’t smoke pot have their own groups and there’s no pressure to get high from anyone.

Bothwings: You’ve never been to UCB’s campus, have you? They’re also a “heavy marijuana use” school and I’ve seen use there far more than I have at UCSC (I’ve only smelled use here at UCSC). The cloud of pot smoke is like a living beast during events at the Greek Theatre at UCB.

Did you know that it came down between UCB and UCSC for the Grateful Dead archives?

Yeah, but it is all the visiting UCSC students who are lighting up - JK

i am confused between berkeley, santa cruz and ucsb… i need help…
i really dont know what to do…something about berkeley set me off before last year it was my dream school i m just happy that i got in lol… i am one of the top 12 at my campus but i was still scared i wouldnt get it…but now that i got in…i m seriously confused… i might pick santa cruz over both cal and ucsb…

I would definitely brush up on your rankings, because I’m pretty sure that SC isn’t higher ranked in any of those. There are a few things that SC is higher ranked in, such as Astrophysics. But I know for example, SC doesn’t touch SB’s Physics program, or any of those other schools Engineering programs.

My friend that goes to SC tells me that people do smoke weed a lot there. But, not everybody does, its just very common. Just like how drinking is very common at SB, but not everybody does it.

pass the blunt !!!111111111111111 lol seriously who cares.
