Why do some college students love to take pictures of themselves next to a beer bottle?

They still find drinking a novelty.

Some people take longer to grow out of this than others.

^ totally agree

cuz they think its kool

Do many people take pictures of just…them, next to a beer bottle?

Awkward, that doesn’t look like very much fun. Alcohol is in some of my pictures I guess but it’s just there because it happened to be there and we were having fun. The focus is on us, not on the alcohol. Plus, what are you going to do, clear everything away because you want to take a picture?

…But I guess some people do take pictures of them specifically drinking either because it’s a novelty or to make themselves look like a certain type of person.

Probably for the same reason that they like to take pictures of themselves doing anything else.

Whatever. Its mixed. For some, “it happens to be there” and for others they do it show off/look cool.

Common sense could’ve told you that. Was this thread really ness?

I don’t particular care if there’s photos of me and alcohol, I’m just not gonna make it my propic and make sure the privacy settings block people I don’t want seeing them from seeing them.

We actually did that in high school. And still do in college.

I still don’t allow a tagged pic of me that has alcohol in it (new years being a different exception) even though I’m 21 now.

Because students drink as some stupid fad or whatever

they think its cool

they’re stupid

It’s not stupid to drink its relaxing

It’s not stupid to do cocaine I find it relaxing

here’s a question: does anyone really find it “cool” when they see that their friend’s facebook profile pic is that of their friend next to a beer bottle?

I find it cool to see my friends doing drugs, mindlessly blown out of their minds while gulping that tenth bottle of beer down their throats, and then attending their funerals after ceaselessly sobbing on my failure to stop them while they were drinking and driving.

Then I restart this process with another cooler drug. Like offering marijuana to another one of my friends just to see if the same process occurs smoothly.

Never really understood why people do this. Especially if they’re not 21 yet lol. Seems incredibly stupid to me, but to each his own. I guess people probably do it, cause they see other people do it and they want to be cool. Thats why most people do anything

Nahh it’s not really about being cool (for most people). A lot of times pictures are taken when students are drinking and they just happen to hold beer/booze bottles. It is generally not a conscious choice “oh I’m going to make sure to hold my beer bottle so it can belong in the picture because I’m so cool.” Personally, I untag 99% of pictures with me and alcohol unless I look particularly classy or sober, and generally bother my friends to remove their drinks from any pictures I take. And I would never put a picture of me with alcohol for my profile pic, even as a 21 year old, for professional reasons. At the same time, most of my friends that do put alcohol in their profile pictures do it because 1) the picture is flattering 2) the picture is funny or 3) its a picture from their 21st birthday, and they are happy/proud to have legal drinks finally. It’s not a big deal…

Because people are sheep and follow what others are doing.

See the planking fad for proof of this. It shows what what stupidity humans are capable of.

I think it’s dumb. I untag myself if an occasional one pops up of me drinking. I am friends with one of my bosses on fb and while she knows I occasionally drink, and doesn’t care even though I’m not 21, it’s not good for future employers and it really just looks stupid. I do lose a bit of respect whenever I see people post pictures of themselves wasted with alcohol and drugs around them. It just makes me wonder where their common sense is- especially when they make it their default picture.

do you guys know how to start a new thread? I looked everywhere but can not find anything that says “new thread”. Thank in advance.

^Uhhhhhhhhhhhh the “New Thread” button at the top of the thread list on any of the forum pages.

As for the picture thing, I guess people just find it novel that they are drinking and decide that everyone on the internet MUST know that they have been drinking.
