Why do we have to apply for scholarships & financial aid if Berea is free attendance?

This is confusing.

The question might be, “Are you an international student or US citizen?”
Either way, Beare College covers 100% of every student’s tuition.
Other expenses such as room and board, transportation etc requires additional scholarship, in form of Bera’s financial aid, work study, federal aid, private scholarships etc.
For international students, they require more assistance from Berea as they are not qualified for federal financial aid designed for US Citizens.
If you are worried about applying for scholarship or financial aid from Berea, then I am not sure how you expect to be awarded the scholarship and aid.
It would be easy to assume that you have to apply for something in order to get it.
Hope that answers your question.

Berea guarantees Tuition. Nothing else. Room, board, books, fees are on your own. You need to apply for financial aid FAFSA and other scholarships and grants. Otherwise, you will have to take out a loan or pay cash for everything but tuition.
