<p>Hm, true. But still, I doubt the 44% that didn't rank were all miles below the rest of MIT's admits. My school doesn't rank, but I know I'm at the very least in the top quarter.</p>
<p>Plus, the admissions guys have always emphasized "context", i.e., how you do in comparison to the people at your school.</p>
<p>But I don't want to be the bad guy -- I'm not saying you have to get straight 4.0s or anything, but you gotta admit that you can't exactly be a C student and still survive at MIT.</p>
<p>Do you guys find it fruitless being on CC, and evaluating everyone stats, when by the common data set post above, the thing MIT admissions cares most about is character/personal qualites, which aren't quantifiable.</p>
<p>Haha, yeah... it's mostly for self-affirmation, I guess. We know our numbers, etc, are good, so we put them up so we can hear people can tell us that they are. ;) Or procrastination - I know I should be hardcore writing some essays or studying or something, but no, I'm on CC. But it's okay, because it's about college, right? :rolleyes:</p>
