Can I get into MIT?

Hello, I'm new here, can someone help me out? Thanks.

GPA: UW 3.9/4.0 W 4.4ish
Rank: don't know, should be top 5%
SAT: 2150 =(
SAT II: 800 Math II, 800 Chemistry

EC:
Math research, math team president, webmaster for school site, science club vp, orchestra

Awards:
Siemens Regional Finalist, USAMO Qualifier, USNCO Qualifier, National Merit Semi, Nation AP Scholar, some state contest placements

Do you think I can get in? It's been my dream since middle school.

SAT is a bit low, but you are a USAMO Qualifier and a Siemens Regional Finalist, which are both two huge hooks for MIT.

I'd say you're probably in.

How do you know that are you a Siemens Regional Finalist anyways? The results for this year aren't in until next Friday, and I thought it was only open to seniors?

I got it last year =/.

In team competition then? I didn't think Siemens let individuals not in their senior year enter.

Yea, team.

bump......

Oh forgot to mention that I'm an Asian male =(.

Well if your Asian you will fit in nicely at MIT (no racist) I would say your accepted.

Probably in.

Just write amazing essays and get terrific recs. Curious....where else are you applying?

Also Caltech, Stanford, CMU, and some safeties.

Slight reach. Asian nerds are a dime a dozen, but they have to let some in anyway, know what I'm saying? Honestly, it's a total tossup. You still have time to retake the SAT I, btw. A 2200+ would be safer.

Well, SAT Subjects are actually as important as the actual SAT. You did brilliantly on those.

BandTenHut, you are coming across as racist. "Asian nerds are a dime a dozen" We all know that AA KILLS Asians in admissions, but rather than just acknowledging that reality your statement seems to devalue the PEOPLE themselves.

^ Who cares? It's just the internet, no one takes things like racism literally.

Failing to ignore AA doesn't make me racist.

I just don't like how you phrased your statement, that's all. It's subjective; I just don't like your classifying them as 'nerds' and using the expression 'dime a dozen,' usually those are denigrating terms... something like "There are many good Asian applicants" and then mentioning AA would have been more acceptable. Again, those are just my preferences, but I dislike the casual way that Asian candidates are dismissed on this site, and dislike it even more when terms like 'nerd' are applied to them.

"....and dislike it even more when terms like 'nerd' are applied to them."

This is MIT we're talking about here....
