Pretty self-explanatory. This question is aimed at both NYU students and prospective students.

I’ll write mine in bullet form so it’s easy to read:

-Transportation is easy for a college kid…subways are always available and they have NYU shuttles that are really good about picking and dropping the students off.
-There isn’t an official gated campus, so it makes the whole atmosphere feel much more mature.
-I’m not into sports or school spirit (like USC is) with the football games and sweatshirts that have the college name all over it
-The library is huugge
-I might me someone who will become famous through Tisch : ]
-It’s in new york!

The study abroad program is a major factor. It’s rare that a college has all of its own staff in each study abroad location.
The physics program is pretty cool.
Location is important. It’s in the city, so there are lots of internships available. Plus, there’s so much to do and see in the city. I love New York City.
It’s a big school with lots of clubs, diversity, and people. Diversity is very important to me.
I like that I’d have to dorm non-tradtionally after a year. I want to meet all sorts of people, and non-traditional dorming would force me to step out of my comfort zone and experience new things.
Their color is purple, and purple is, after all, my second favorite color.

There isn’t a feeling of containment that you usually get in traditional college campuses. Our campus is the city.

It is very convenient to go where ever you want. Subways function in the winter, too.

A lot of amazing cultural events happen here - concerts, plays, museum exhibits, etc.

Kimmel is awesome. On the 10th floor, there is a viewing gallery which looks over Washington Square Park. You can see the arch, Empire State, and Chrysler building all within your line of sight. The view is amazing.

For my D:

Location. Location. Location. (theatre lover, we visit NYC a lot).
Diversity (we’re from a less diverse area)
School (top ranked philosophy dept)
Study abroad options (love to travel, see other cultures, and NYU makes it easy)

The ONLY negative for us is …yeah, you guessed it…COST. My D has been “sporting” (and bleeding!) purple ever since we visited in the Fall of 2008.

admitted student but I probably know the area better than any student (I’ve lived on campus 17 years), so I can say pretty confidently in terms of the area that Greenwich Village is the greatest place I’ve ever been to, very culture based and very fun, very safe, great food if you know where to go (I can tell you if you’d like). Also, as a student I’m very interesting in Philosophy and NYU has the best philosophy department available to me (I can see the debate with princeton - i couldn’t get into Princeton). And as is always a factor, I don’t have to pay tuition
