I see many threads asking about course difficulty, potential earnings and schools but not any about why those of you in school or currently working as engineers love what you do. So why do you love engineering? What would you say to a high school junior contemplating engineering to encourage his interests? What is the best part about your career?
thanks!

The engineers in my family love inventing practical solutions to everyday problems. If they ever need to fix something, they make it better than it was to begin with. They are always noticing better ways to do things. I'm not in engineering, but it seems to be a good blend of the scientific and the practical.

My son did an engineering apprenticeship in high school where he visited different companies in various engineering disciplines. This was a great experience. If you don't have something like this at your high school, maybe you son could shadow some different engineers and get an idea of what the jobs are like.
