I am guilty. I did post a chance me thread when I first came on to College Confidential, but I have realized that there is no point to these "chance me" threads.

MITChris posted this a several months ago

This is true for other schools as well. If an admissions officer cannot even predict results, how can a bunch of stressed out, unqualified high school students predict results?

If you have posted a chance me thread in the past, how many times have you heard "All the Ivies are a crap shoot" or "All the Ivies are reaches"? Come on people! You know what people are going to say when you post your stats.

Even when you get a "real" response, there is probably a major bias. If you have kids with weaker stats, they are going to say that you are in because it makes them feel better about their own chances. When you have kids with stronger stats, they are going to put you down to feel better about themselves. (This is a generalization.)

This was posted in the results thread for UChicago (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-chicago/1041336-official-university-chicago-class-2015-ea-results-thread-8.html - post #115) Imagine if he did not apply to Chicago because he was so upset by his chance me thread.

There are far too many subjective factors in college admissions to make an accurate prediction.

Do yourself a favor and think before you post a chance me thread. Will you really get an answer that is going to help you?

Thank you.
