I tell the truth because I am scared of lying poorly :).

Anyone know where I’m going with that? Come on, at least one CCer must…

Lying has actually been scientifically proven to be correlated with intelligence.

In other words: The better liar you are the smarter you are because you can play out situations in your head, try out different scenarios and use the knowledge you know of that person to pick the best possible outcome.

It’s like a game of chess.

I’m a bad liar =( I don’t have the guts to lie to people, I hate being lied to, and I don’t want to lie to others. I just get this super bad gut feeling and guilty… And it’s just so much easier to tell the truth, imo, (but that’s probably because I’ve never had to lie about something super big) because it’s…just so easier! lol Having a rep of being a liar isn’t too good. Also, I always laugh or smile when I’m lying lol… But when I don’t tell the truth, it’s usually about a topic that I really don’t want to talk about ie. personal & private things so I just say, “I don’t want to talk about it” or a flat “No.” and change the topic? But idk people always assume and usually don’t believe other people anyway lol

The truth usually comes out anyway…

I’m a great liar. Ladies and gentlemen, I present the genius of this generation, addymithas. I’m joking in case you can’t tell.

^we all know your joking because you didn’t use my name. ;)

I lie a lot because I’m scared of telling the truth poorly.

I can lie really well about big things, but not for little things lol.
Mostly I tell the truth. It always gets found out anyway.

everything is like a game of chess. Richard Feynman gave a nice analogy how chess is like physics (sort of). It’s very complicated (the chess games and the world) but once you observe it enough you can puzzle out the underlying laws (i.e. how the chess pieces move or how the particles interact). You can even figure very subtle things like castling or the pawn move (en passant). But unlike chess where the subtleties can’t be unified, and observing just results in a longer list of governing rules, and so on, in physics hopefully the rules can be simplified (unified) after enough observation (maybe).

yeah, the truth can sometimes be hard to convey well. In those cases I probably lie too (so i.e. I do whichever one - lie or tell the truth - is least scary, depending on the situation). Which is probably not an uncommon thing.

The trick I’m surprised more people haven’t learned is purposely lying badly when over something not too serious (better if it’s something that puts you in a good light). My sister accidentally broke her brand new camera and wanted me to lie about so she wouldn’t get in trouble, so I did, but made it so I looked like I was just bad at lying. Now my mom raves all the time about how I’m such a perfect child and I can’t even lie properly.

… of course, I really AM a good child and don’t need to lie often, so that helps.

Lying is fun. I try to never tell the truth… Paradox?! D;

You all need to see [The Invention of Lying - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](The Invention of Lying - Wikipedia)

Lying makes me feel bad.

Um, no?

ahahah i love the Invention of Lying.

I’m a pretty good liar, but I don’t lie because I feel guilty if I do and then I can’t sleep at night. :(

I lie both out of necessity (to avoid harm to well-being), and for entertainment value.

I tell the truth because I have an innate sense of honesty and truth-telling. Lying is just something I don’t really do. I like being straight to the point.

On the other hand, I’m a fantastic liar, but my guilty conscience is incredibly overbearing, so I avoid it.

I lie about big things mostly so I’m a very candid person. But, I am a good liar and lying can be fun.

I lie (and tell the truth) based on utilitarianism.I’ve lied my whole life, I don’t know why I guess it’s mythomania (pathological lying). Anyway, we all lie, even jokes are lies as well as exaggerations.

Well not really lying, mostly just hiding. So it’s not lying nor telling the truth. Just something in between.

But I’m a great liar anyway.

I can never lie. If I do, I start laughing like an idiot. If I can pull it off, I’ll feel guilty forever.

I don’t lie because I’ve learnt throughout life (even though I’m barely 15 who doesn’t really have a life yet) that if you tell a lie, the person is going to find out the truth eventually. Also because the truth usually ends up in greater rewards and you won’t have that thought of , “What if I told the truth? I wonder how things would be different…”

I don’t lie.
