For some of us, studying in US enables us to break away from a poor country. But there are other countries, including UK, Australia, that will also provide such opportunities. Yet i find that there is such a hype to go the US. So i was just curious - why do YOU want to go to US??

I’ll start it off:

I want to go to the US because of the prestige of an overseas qualification, to become independent from my parents (to live in dorms, party all night, etc.), to have a new experience… these factors are also applicable to UK, but I guess what makes me like US more is the weather in California (ridiculous reasoning, I know) and the flexibility of the curricula.

I was born in the U.S.A, in California, but unfortunately my parents had other plans and I had to attend middle school and high school in another country.I would love to benefit from my citizenship and attend a prestigious Californian university since there’s no point in studying abroad just for the sake of it atleast that’s what I think.
Right now, i’m planning on giving the SATs and hoping that a huge score and a killer essay will be enough to get me into someplace good, because I have no chance in competing with all the other international students and american students.
The main reason though is the prestige.I mean you could study at Oxford or Cambridge, but they wouldn’t have the same “oomph” when you mention a top American university

“Oxford or Cambridge, but they wouldn’t have the same “oomph” when you mention a top American university” – That’s absurd.

Because I wanna be an investment banker and make a lot of money

Because I want to become a well rounded person

Because it America. Nuff said
