I am just curious as to why other people are interested in transfering

Here's my reasons:
1) I'm in NYU LSP which is a really stupid restrictive program, where most classes are assigned, each semester I get to pick 1 elective out of a list of like 3, and what I learn in most of my classes could be summed up after 20 minutes on Sparknotes.com. I'm restricted to Humanities classes (Writing, English, Philosphy, History, etc.) and get no choices in my classes.

2) At NYU I was planning on majoring in Econ w/a minor in Govt, but I'd much rather study public policy, which is similar to Econ but less liberal artsy/theoretical with more applications. The college I want to transfer to (Cornell) has a great program which fits my interests perfectly. Seriously, if I could make up my own college program/major, that would be it.

3) At NYU, I spend like 2 hrs 15-30 mins commuting a day, and on days when the subway has problems and I miss the LIRR, it's like a 3 hr commute.

4)NYU is ridiculously expensive. Cornell's Tuition + Room/board + Meal plans + Fees + Books is LESS than NYU's tuition/commuting alone. I feel like I'm not getting my money's worth at NYU and feel guilty at how expensive it is.

5)The city is nice, but I prefer a rural/suburban campus. NYU doesn't have a campus, and Washington Sq Park is full of hobos, dealers, The Socialist Party of America, and crazy people who converse with squirrels.

6) Living at home means living with my crazy uber-religious nutbag parents who treat me like I'm 5 and barely let me leave the house for fear I'm doing something bad. Transferring means leaving home.

The campus I am at is a commuter campus, I'm not a commuter. I feel uncomfortable because of the race ratio at my school. I feel I can accomplish more at another school. You do not do your best work where you are not happy!
