Why does EVERYONE want to be become a doctor?

I want to be a doctor. I can't think of a better way to serve humanity and the country.

Most pre meds and prospective doctors will change their mind at some point, or just get weeded out through the harder courses (so I've heard from many). Others do it because of pressure from their parents. Either way, not all of them will become doctors, probably less than a fourth or fifth. I for one want to do it because I know what it involves and because it's the only thing I see myself doing. I also know that I'm capable of doing it, and that most likely I will do it.

I seriously can't give up that exhilirating feeling you get when you're a stockbroker/stock trader and meet with your client to tell him/her that his/her stocks tripled in price in the past three hours, and they're a millionaire (Cha-Ching!! Fat commissions/bonuses for me!!!!) for the stupid labcoat. I simply refuse to do so.

Repeatedly saying you will make 3 million a year doesn't make it the truth. Maybe when you get out of high school, you will realize how hard it is to get jobs like that. It's not as simple as wanting to make money. A lot of people get forced out of trading. You lose money, you're done.

I want to be a doctor. I'll be a poor one, though. I'll be setting up a free clinic in rural Southeast Asia.

Im either going the biomedical device route or the docter route, still deciding. My reason for wanting to be a docter has more to do with reserch. Helping people is a plus, but not my motive. Most people seem full of **** who say that they want to do it to help people when I see their daily actions.

ha, definetly not becoming a doctor.. because science is DEFINETLY my worst subject..

So many people I met are biomedical science majors.

i dont knwo.. ive always wanted to go to Africa or other third world coutnries. and help!!! (ex.with the money that ive earned. i can build a school. or even a hospital1)
