<p>Like, Ilovedogs, I'm also a freshman at Emory and will be happy to show ya'll my essay....just PM me or post here. My approach in writing it was to draw on a specific experience from when I toured the school. It's quite unique and specific to my own experience, but I think it's a good model for how you should employ creativity with the essay. Also, as was suggested to me from older students when I was writing it, you should reiterate why not only Emory is a great match for you, but why YOU are a great match for Emory -- how YOU'll benefit the school.</p>

<p>jillpod, most applicants' essays will be around 400-500 words. Your essay is definitely shorter than what adcoms will be expecting. The Why Emory essay should convey a familiarity with Emory and a desire to attend that is difficult to express in 1/3 of a page. I have no idea how much this will affect your chances.</p>

<p>Just be honest; there is no correct essay response, other than the reasons you decided to apply to Emory. Did you visit Emory? If so, what were your impressions? If not, just write the reasons which prompted you to contact Emory initially.</p>
<p>If you have not visited Emory or demonstrated interest in some way, I urge you to try to write a particularly good 'why emory' essay. A lack of demonstrated interest in addition to a poor 'why emory' essay sends the message, "I am applying here for poor reasons, and I don't even know what the college is all about." Such a message is likely not going to be well received.</p>

<p>This is what I did: I wrote about the gym. The only thing that I really remember about Emory for the day that I was there was the gym. Even when my flight reached back to new york I was still thinking about how collesal that gym was. So I wrote about that, and how I am really into weight lifting and boxing</p>
