This is a frustrating prompt because it rules out every reason I want to go to emory. What are other people saying? Because it seems to me that there is nothing to say once you rule out location, size, and it being a good school

have you visited Emory?

no, but why would that matter because that would either be included in location (like the area/city) or size (like that its small and personal)

Well, if you had visited Emory, you would have mentioned the experienced you gained from visiting (i.e, the atmosphere, the people, etc.).

Is there a particular program you're interested in that only Emory can provide you? It took me awhile to think of something to write, so yeah. I've been there, done that.

i wrote about how i was forced to visit emory and orignially didn't want to go at all because i didn't anticipate any school spirit because they aren't div. 1, but then during my visit realized there was lots of school spirit, just for different things, and ended up falling in love with the emory student body...just an example.

im struggling find something myself

stevenjm: please don't tell me you are applying ED and you haven't dealt with this yet.....What do you want to major in? What programs interest you?Guys, if you have done your research (and not just throwing in an application), this is a no-brainer.....If you are RD, take the time you have to do some research.....For all of your schools, not just Emory.....

write about your visit to emory and the students you saw and how you felt it was a lively campus and you want to be around people that are active and smart. write about the opportunities for internships in a large city like Atlanta. Write about how you like the PE requirements because not only are you interested in your studies but also a healthy balance of life. it doesnt matter they probably dont even read it

my why emory essay was amazing. think outside the box guys, it's not too hard!

how long were other people's essays? I was under the impression (for some undetermined reason) that the why emory essay wasn't supposed to be very long. so mine was uncreative, probably around 200 words. urh, I suppose it was concise?

I'm sure it's fine. Mine was 535 words, about 2 pages long (double-spaced). It was originally 3 pages long but I had to cut it short. Yeah yeah, I know but I had a lot to say, and I added a lot of details about the 2 specific things that caught my eye about the school.

250 words. I believe it was supposed to be a short essay.

Actually, an Emory student here named DayDreamBeliever wrote an extremely creative Why Emory essay and her word count was 643 words. The length isn't the biggest issue, it's the content within the essay.

I was specifically told by an admissions officer that the length was to be no more than 1 page double spaced which is around 300 words

For the "Why Emory" essay, the issue of 300 words or 400 words or 500 words
is probably irrelevant and moot. A well structured paragraph probably carries more weght than 2 pages of cliches and boilerplate language - - after all, the whole Gettysburgh Address was only 10 sentences.
